It’s dificult to pigeon-hole Berlin, as it is a diverse mix of old and new, is very multicultural and heavily steeped in history. We bought daily transport passes and changed from buses to trams to trains very regularly. Many buildings on Karl Marx Alle are mirrored on the opposite side of the road like this. They are Soviet buildings and housed important workers and officials.

Directly opposite the Kino International Cinema, this is a well preserved example of Soviet architecture and has numerous mosaic murals depicting life as a ‘good’ Russian should live it.

Original 1960’s decor and fittings intact, this is the cool look that people try and copy. Minimalist but it has a wow factor.

I’ve never seen this before. He has a fully functioning cooker attached to him with a gas pack on his back. If things go wrong it may be reminiscent of that famous Jerry Lee Lewis tune; you work it out.

Berlin Wall
Seeing the Berlin Wall sounds interesting. I remember when it came down. Great day. I have wanted a piece of it for ages. It is interesting about the fixed rents. I knew they had them but didn't know why.
