Bavaria D5
Last night was busy in the town square where some men in lederhosen were erecting a very tall tree. They were shaping badly but I think they were spinning it out a bit for the crowd who were eating and drinking in the street in 24 degrees. We were eating in Paladinos, just off the e square. I say eating but mostly drinking since they were that busy it took a while to arrive. The Allee Hotel was very nice with good rooms and good breakfast. Out along the river today in warm sunshine passing through a lot of farmland growing all crops and quite a bit of newly planted maize. There was some hay being made so their must be livestock which must be kept inside all year round. A stop was made for coffee at the very picturesque town of Bad Winsheim before more level riding until at 32km we got onto a difficult gravel road which climbed for 2 1/2 km then more climbing on tarmac before descending into the final valley again leading to Rothenburg an der Tauber for our stay. This is a very touristy place with lots of fabulous buildings and a wall
around the old town with arches going through and clocks above. A band was playing in the town centre with lots of visitors sat around eating and drinking, but actually more drinking to expand their waistline even more. The Altus Brauhaus Hotel is very nice with an underground car park for the bikes. The evening meal is to be at a new Indian Restaurant called surprisingly the ’Taj Mahal’. The weather is wonderful for cycling and surprisingly a similar temperature to that at home in the north west of England.
