I got went to bed around 2:00. I didn't have an early start to the day because I found out that the BMW factory wasn't hosting tours. A lot of the factory workers are on holiday apparently. I decided to go for the five € breakfast buffet at the hostel. I discreetly made a sandwich and shoved it in my bag. At the train station nearby I go several quotes for a rental car. One of my primary reasons for coming to Germany was to drive on the Autobahn and especially the Nürburgring. It's been on my bucket list for quite sometime. The lowest quote I got was 340 €. I’m very much looking forward to driving instead of walking around doing touristy things. I bought a day pass for the U Bahn and went to BMW Welt and Museum. Aside from the architecture, BMW Welt is somewhat gimmicky. It mostly felt like an over the top dealership. The museum had some interesting things, but it pales in comparison to the Honda Collection Hall I went to in Japan. After taking some pictures of the two buildings I walked to the Olympic. I was getting really tired and sat in the
shade for a little bit. I think the lack of sleep, constant walking and now heat is catching up with me. The festival going on at the park was gear mostly towards kids. I needed a nap and made my way back to the hostel, but not before asking the tourist information to confirm something for me. I read online after being translated by Google that the Nurburgring is only open tomorrow from only 5:30-7:30 pm. It was closed Friday and I leave Saturday. The last working there told me this was the case. I took a shower and had an hour long nap. Preparing for my 12 hour road trip not including my time at the 'ring, I bought some groceries. As I was leaving, two women were speaking English and asked them if they were fellow travelers. They were staying at a hostel a couple of doors down. I dropped off my groceries and on my floor the was a girl tapping her key card on every door because she couldn't remember which room was hers. It was time for dinner and I wanted some Bavarian food. On the street I ran into one of the women from
the grocery store. I asked her if she wanted to join but she had eaten Bavarian the last three days. I directed her to the Thai restaurant I went to last night. At Andy’s Krablergarten I ordered a Bavarian pork schnitzel with potato cucumber salad. The schnitzel had a sweet mustard. It was quite a heavy meal. I had to wait more than half an hour for my food, but I was warned when I sat down. I went to the same internet cafe as last night to get caught up a bit more. I found out how easily the keyboard could be switched to English. I'm an idiot sometimes. Some guy's phone kept going off with an annoying song every three to four minutes and it started to get to me. I was supposed to go to bed at a decent hour because of the 6:00 am wake up call. After I showered I went downstairs to talk to some people. A girl from Switzerland thought I was Japanese. I seem to be getting that a lot. I think it's my hair. Tomorrow’s going to be a very long day, but I like driving.
