We have learned a big lesson--always check to see if the travel day is a holiday. It happened to us in Ayamonte, Spain (no taxis because it was festival day); it happened to us in Venice, Italy (all the grocery stores and area restaurants were closed for a holiday); and it happened to us again today. Who knew that June 9th is a big holiday in Austria? ! Well the bus drivers knew. We hung around our apartment until it was time to catch the 8:30 a.m bus. We had been ready for over an hour. But the 8:30 bus did not come. Hmmmm. We checked the schedule and realized our mistake--on holidays the 7:30 bus, which we could have caught, and the 9:30 bus run but NOT the 8:30 bus. So we spent our last hour in Mondsee at the bus stop. I am pretty sure we have finally learned that lesson.

After the hour bus ride to Salzburg we hopped on a fast train to Munich, Germany. We will be in Munich for a week staying at a very nice home in the city (another home exchange). Even though it is in the city, near the English Garden,

it is very quiet. And the owner has a wonderful back yard full of roses, and a vegetable garden. I am supposed to water the plants during the week. I hope my purple thumb doesn't ruin her beautiful plants!
