O'zapft is!

O’zapft is - this means that the first barrel of beer has been opened by the major of Munich, who also speaks the opening words for the Oktoberfest. We have not been to the Oktoberfest for the last 5 years and really have not missed anything. However, when we went last Saturday it was a lot of fun although we had an awful headache the next day!

The two weeks in Munich were very short. We travelled through South Germany to visit our friends and Family from Reutlingen to Plattling and back to Munich. We bought additional trekking equipment we were still missing and packed our rucksacks several times to test the material and get the weight balance right - from next week packing is not going to help anymore, then it will be hiking time!

Today is the big day - we are really excited to take off tonight and will keep you posted next time from Kathmandu - Nepal.

Was ‘Ozapft is’ heisst muss man ja wohl hier zu Lande nicht erklaeren.... 5 Jahre waren wir jetzt nicht auf der Wiesn und haben nicht wirklich was vermisst. Als wir aber am letzten Samstag doch mal wieder dort waren hatten wir wirklich eine Menge Spass - bis auf die Kopfschmerzen am naechsten Tag!

Die letzten 2 Wochen in Muenchen ware wirklich kurz. Wir waren in ganz Sueddeutschland unterwegs - von Reutlingen bis Plattling und zurueck nach Muenchen. Ausserdem hatten wir noch eine Menge Trekking Ausruestung zu besorgen und haben unsere Rucksaecke mehrmals zur Probe gepackt um Gewicht und Einstellung zu testen. Ab naechste Woche wird Packen dann nicht mehr reichen - dann wird gelaufen!

Heute ist der grosse Tag - wir sind ein bisschen aufgeregt und freuen uns heute abend nach Richtung Osten aufzubrechen. Wir halten Euch auf dem Laufenden - das naechste Mal von Kathmandu in Nepal.
