Oktoberfest

First a post about Oktoberfest, then a few more about Rome/Florence and Athens in review and then something about Edinburgh this far... so expect a few posts over the next few days.

Simply put Oktoberfest was incredible. I had an amazing time. Was there with three of my good buddies, all lax guys from Swarthmore. One is Jay who I'm living next to in Edinburgh. The other two are Ryan, studying in Cork, Ireland and Rich in Sweeden.

We all got in Friday night, Rich a lot later then the rest of us. Interestingly enough I spoke a lot of Italian while in Germany. We went to a pizzeria the first night and the owner spoke little to no English, but was fluent in Italian. Likewise, the outdoor resteraunt where we got drinks later that night had a waiter that spoke little English, but again fluent in Italian.

We got to Oktoberfest at about 930 in the morning which was about 30mins to late to get a good table though we managed to secure a tent in the Hofbrau tent which we had heard from others was the "best" tent. We heard from many regulars though that they were all great. Drinks were first served at noon and to make a long story short, we drank... and had a fantastic time. Ate some great German sausage, rode the bumber cars later at night. I also bought a t-shirt and two beer steins.

Only complaint... the amount of smoke in the tent. Absolutely unbelievable. The tent was filled with a thick haze. My shoes still smell like smoke.

All and all, an unbelievably fun time.
