Schloss Nymphenburg
Here I am with Björn at the kings summer palace outside of Munich. The architecture is very similar to that of Versaille. Hallo!!!
Today Björn and I spent the day in Münich! Famous for bavarian beer, white sausages and baroque architecture. We began the day be visiting Schloss Nymphenburg, the royal families summer home. We visited Neues Rathaus, St. Peterskirche, Frauenkirche and Karlstor.
After a long day of sightseeing we visited the kings brewery, a brewery in which many people mistakenly believe beer was first created. Hofbräuhaus München is the most popular brewery in Bavaria and the home to Oktoberfest, one of the continents most famous parties. Here Björn and I drank a glass (a German glass of beer is one liter!!!) of beer and enjoyed a typical Bavarian breakfast as a snack: beer, white sausage, and soft pretzels! All the waiters and waitresses were dressed in traditional Bavarian costume and live German folklore music played in the background. It was spectacular!
We finished our day in Münich with a long walk through the beautiful Englischer Garten (English Garden), also known as a beer garden. Here many Germans come to relax and drink beer during the day or late afternoon. Many choose to sunbathe nude on the grass while drinking beer, but we chose to only drink the beer! 😊
Traditional Bavarian Breakfast
Only in Germany is it socially acceptable to drink beer for breakfast! Tomorrow we are off to Strasbourg, France!
Tschüss for now!!!
