Last night’s Bavarian restaurant was very good and I had a very nice Deer Stew. The squares were very busy with people eating and drinking even when darkness fell. There are a few impressive buildings and churches around the centre.
Once again, good to be out of the city and across rolling fields again. The villages are now pretty nondescript compared with the ones earlier on which had very pretty houses with exposed timbers and multi storied. They do though have loads of crosses with Jesus on them
In their gardens and village greens. There are a number of old, small tractors still in use on the village farms with small trailers behind, some of which are converted muck spreaders. I went past a farm which smelt of hens so now I know where the boiled eggs come from at breakfast. Maypoles are still in prominence and some pretty exotic one too. There was also an impressive dovecote in one garden, again I now know where those damn pigeons come from which make that monotonous warbling sound day and night. Again we are coming across gravel tracks going through woods, but nothing too serious. Since we were entering Munich today via Dackau we thought we would call into the WWII labour camp. Maybe I missed something, but one of the buildings was now being used by the Bavarian Riot Squad and the rest were knocked down for housing. All I saw were a few boards with historical information. Following this it was a ride alongside a busy road followed by a wiggly cycle routes along streets and parks. What amazes me is the sight of randomly abandoned electric scooters on the pavements and in hedges. I presume they have trackers on to help recover them. The Star G Hotel is on a busy road on the outskirts of the town centre. Tomorrow is a chance to have a look around the sights.
