Stuttgart Airport
Leaving the aiport Hello everyone!
Incase any of you dont know..I have made it to Germany safe and sound. I arrived Friday morning and flew directly in Stuttgart Airport. The flight wasn't too bad. We actually arrived about 30 min early. Now we were on an older plane. It only had the big tv with the little ones in each aisle. I really was hoping for the one that has the screen on each headrest but no luck. The man two seats down said it is very rare to get a new plane on the Atlanta to Stuttgart flight. I'll remember for future reference since he said he flies it almost monthly for work. Nick was able to rent a car for the weekend so he met me at the airport. A very nice Audii. I told him maybe we should get one of these when we get back to the states. LOL
From the airport we headed back to the hotel. Nick had to return to work for the second half of the day and I took a four hour nap (since I didnt really sleep much on the plane ride). We attended a farewell dinner for some people that Nick

Leaving Stuttgart airport works with at a local german restaurant. Nick had cordon bleu with fries and I had Breaded Turkey-schnitzel! with fries. We both had beer of course! After the dinner we drove back to the hotel. Then put on warm clothes and walked to the train to head into downtown Stuttgart. It was chilly and rainy/snowy. While on the 2nd train Nick left his favorite fleece Old Navy hat on the seat somewhere. In the split second we realized it the doors were closed and the train was off. This was the 2nd time he lost his hat and this time hes not getting it back. Poor guy! Luckily there was gluwein to attempt to keep us warm. We made it to downtown Stuttgart after getting a little turned around and found the Christmas markets. Alot of them were closed because it was late and rainy. It was still fun getting to walk around and find our way and take pictures. There were still so many people out and about for being so cold, late, and wet.
After we had enough of the cold we walked back to train stop and headed back toward the hotel. All the stops by
highway
on the way back from aiport the way are very clean as is the city itself. No trash. No vandalism. No homeless.
Once we reached the final train stop we still had a 10minute walk in the frigid weather before we finally reached our hotel. My eyes closed as soon as I hit the pillow. I then slept for about 10 hours before Nick made me wake up. We were starting another journey for the weekend heading to his cousin's Bernd's house with a stop on the way in Ulm.
The next blog will fill you in on that weekend. 😊 We also took just a few pictures from the first night which I will also post.
Some interesting information about Kelley Barracks is that it began construction in 1938 (im getting this from the hotel books..lol) German forces first held control of the barracks and abandoned it in 1945 as the war ended. Some of the other bases have intersting history as well which I will have to type up at a later time.
