Because we were 40 minutes late leaving home, were held up for half an hour on the M25 and it took 45 minutes to clear passport control and book in at Dover, we missed our ferry to Dunkirk. But DFDS put us on the next one, so we left at 6pm and arrived at our favourite aire at Bergues, just inland from Dunkirk, at 9.45 local time.
