D+19 St-Avold (France).

Since our last blogg entry we have completed nearly 200 miles and are currently about 2 days ride away from Germany. Our total distance to date is 620 miles. Both bike are holding up well and we both appreciate our Brooks saddles which are now well broken in. The weather again has been a bit hit and miss. We had 2 days of glorious sun shine followed by 2 days of cloud and rain. One of the problems I'm having is charging up our electronic devices. The Solar panel simple does not work without full sun. Both the PDA and the Mobile phone are nearly dead - hence having to sit here in the internet cafe typing out this entry. This is an extremely slow process as the French key boards are laid out differently than the UK ones. It must have taken me about 20 minutes to work out the @ sign just to log on.

Anyway we are both fine and are still enjoying ourselves. As the days go by we are definately getting fitter. We can now complete 50 miles quite easily, even as the terrain is getting hillier the further we go east. To be truthfull we haven't had too much time for sight seeing but we plan to take a few more days off when we find somewhere more interesting. We have met a few other cyclists along the way and it has been good to exchange details on routes etc. Before I left the UK I hadn't looked too closely at the route into Germany. There are 2 quite big mountain ranges we will have to cross before we get onto the Danube cycle route but we both consider we are ready for it.
