Avignon
The historic town of Avignon. We woke this morning after an absolutely fantastic nights sleep in our hotel room. We ate breakfast downstairs then packed our bags to meet at the bus around the corner for 9AM. Eventually after waiting for people who got lost on the way, we jumped aboard the bus and were on our way. Since we didn’t go to Avignon after the events of yesterday, we were stopping there for lunch and a quick browse around before we headed for the French Riviera. Most people were happy just skipping Avignon so we had more time in the French Riviera but apparently according to Jamie we had to stop there. After a few hours in the bus we were in Avignon, we jumped out of the bus and had a look around this small but historical town. The town was quite interested and had a nice vibe to it as well, but since we didn’t have much time there I snapped up some photos then headed back across the bridge where the bus was waiting for us. We ate lunch by the river with a great view of Avignon then once again jumped aboard the bus and made our way to the French

We drove for another 5 hours before we finally made it to our campsite. Billy, to the amazement of everyone in the bus, reverse parked it into a tiny space provided by the campsite, the bus erupted in cheering for him. We all setup our tents in on the rocky ground then had a very quick bite to eat before it was time to board the bus and go into one of the most anticipated stops of all, Monaco. Just before we entered into Monaco we stopped at a lookout point for some celebratory champagne that we had left over from Paris, since we weren’t allowed to drink it in public. The group finished off all of the champagne then we got back in the bus and drove into Monaco. As we arrived we were warned of an upcoming parachute drop, we got our stuff ready and in a matter of minutes everyone was off the bus.
As we were walking through the tunnel made famous from the Formula 1 Grand Prix, I was going crazy taking photos. I’m a big fan of F1 and had seen this city many times, I couldn’t believe I was here.

The impressive Palais des Papes with the Avignon Cathedral to the left. We walked to Casino Square and picked a Casino called “Jeux Americains”, mainly because it was the cheapest and we didn’t have to be in a suit to get in. Jamie told us that we only have 45 minutes because Billy couldn’t drive any later due to the massive amount of driving he had down today. This annoyed me quite a bit because I had wanted to come here for so long and to be told that we only have 45 minutes pissed me off. It didn’t stop my gambling my money but it was barely enough time to get into it. I came out about 20EURO up while Hannah did really well being almost 60EURO up. We cashed in our chips, I kept a souvenir, then we met the rest of the group outside.
Soon enough everyone was here and we made our way back to the bus. We walked past the famous hairpin from the Monaco GP, it was the slowest turn in the entire championship, and standing there you realize exactly why that is, hard to imagine a F1 car going 60+mph around here. Eventually we boarded the bus and drove back to the campsite. Te

The ancient Pont'd Avignon which was destroyed by floods long ago. drive felt considerably longer than it did on the way here and by the time we were back nearly the whole bus was asleep. As I had an awesome day today, I was still very disappointed about not having much time in Monaco. Since we had a free day tomorrow I planned to take a train back into Monaco and explore the city during the day, hopefully the weather will be okay.
