For some reason I had thought that Pornic was going to be a high-rise apartment sort of seaside resort. Very pleasantly surprised to find I was completely wrong. No sweeping seaside bay here but a fishing port built along a deep river estuary. There was a very good walkway all along the north side of the estuary so we walked along it right to the end where it came out at the yachting marina and a proper little sandy beach. Shame we had not brought swimming things as the sea looked quite inviting. We had lunch at a bar and the brochettes de crevettes were delicious. Campsite = Camping la Boutinardière just south of Pornic My sister, Liz, and I, always agree that France is 5 degrees warmer once south of Nantes. Today this theory holds true once again. Only had a short drive today, further down the coast so set off at a leisurely pace. No choice of route really as we had to get over the massive estuary of the Loire so we took the dramatic bridge at St Nazaire which always impresses us. The day had been very grey up to this point with no breaks in the sky at all. 5 minutes on the other side of the estuary and we started to see blue.
