Our friends Linda and Dennis were waiting for us with evening meal and drinks as we arrived at Les Romarins campsite at Agde. We will point out that we were at Agde and not Cap d'Agde where the famous nudist colonies are. The campsite is the nicest we have stayed on with the very friendly and helpful proprietors. Dennis had chosen our pitch for us with plenty of shade, however, the weather was not what it had been and shade was not necessary. At the weekend there was a nautical festival, the highlight of which was the water jousting where two boats each with a platform and a 'jouster' on the back, are rowed towards each other until one 'jouster' is 'lanced' into the water. Better described by the photo. Many hundreds of people were watching ... read more

Our days are now spent reading, writing and school work, planning meals, shopping for food for meals, cooking and walking through the vineyards either early morning or evening or both (its too hot during the day). We go out every second day or so to look at the sights, shop, or just to the pub in the next village, which is our closest wifi access, to do our internet stuff. I’ve been enjoying cooking here. After eating out at restaurants for two months it’s nice to have home cooked food. I’ve been trying out lots of French recipes from an excellent recipe book that was in the house. The weather has been in the high twenties to thirty this week with no rain, so very pleasant. It can get quite breezy at times, which is welcome ... read more

We were soon relaxed after finding a small grocery shop open that sold bread, cheese and wine, - the essentials to keep us going until we fully settled in. The house met our expectations with spacious rooms, and good sized deck overlooking the pool, to enjoy the sun. Our first couple of days were spent catching up on sleep, laundry, food supplies and getting our bearings around our little village. It’s a tiny village with only a small grocery (selling everything) a tabac (magazines, book shop), baker, butcher, pizza, pub and post office, and at least ... read more
