The hotel...
So our hotel is on Rue Rodier, a tiny little road... The hostel across the way was called The Woodstock Hostel, just kind of funny because I live on Woodstock!! Anyway, the hotel is tiny, phone on the bottom floor, but the front desk people are amazing nice. We get breakfast (well cafe au lait and warm baguettes and jelly) every morning. Yummy! I love the food here! Our room is up the stairs on the 4th floor, I counted, 74 stairs to our floor. But on the bright side the lift is so small and slow it makes you want to go up those stairs and work that ass!!
The hotel room...
Oh my god... the room was tiny, but it was so cute! The key was very old school, probably from when the hotel was first built, which had to have been in the 1700s! You had to stick it in about half way and wiggle it a little so it goes all the way in and turn, if worked as the door knob as well, becuase there was not a seperate knob to open the door! LoL. I wish I had a picture
that did the room justice, I don't even think we have video that shows just how tiny the room was. But I am creative and drew a picture!
Even my sketch does not do the size of the room justice. It seriously may have been 8 ft wide and 12 ft long. If that. Jenn and I shared the full size bed, which was nothing more than cardboard on springs, while Kelley snagged the twin bed that was REALLY REALLY comfortable in comparision. Jenn and I didn't figure this out until the 3rd or 4th night! The showers were on the 1st and 3rd floors, so as we were on the 4th floor in room 29, we had to go down the stairs to use the shower, however there was a toilet on our floor, but we didn't find this out until mid week! Anyway enough about the hotel! Lets go sightseeing and eat!!
Sightseeing - Day 1
Since we arrived so early we didn't want to waste the day, by noon we were freshened up, changed and ready to head out to beautiful Paris. Kelley was the poop of the party. She was "hung over" from
the drugs and lack of sleep and wasn't too excited to be there. Which is too bad, because if you have ever been to Paris you know how gorgeous it is, and how yummy the food is! Anyway we headed out, just to wander around, have some food and just get (well for me) reaquainted with the city. We started out by grabbing the Metro to the Trocadero station, near the Eiffel Tower. We came out, and walked between the 2 huge buildings and admired the huge phalic symbol that is the Eiffel Tower!
I have to admit I'm really dissapointed, the pictures Kelley took of me and Jenn didn't come out too well, and Jenn lost hers... So I'll have to play with photoshop and see if I can tweek the lighting so you can see us. Until then, you just get me and Kelley.
We walked under the Eiffel tower, smelling crepes and avoiding the vendors, and headed along the Siene to Pont Alexander III, my favorite bridge in all of Paris, we continued along to the Concorde and the Louvre. On the way there we stopped in a little battisserie and got fromage panini's (hot
cheese sandwhiches), Kelley I guess thought that in Paris they would speak english, so she mildly freaked out and bolted from the bakery. She seemed just really overwhelmed by the whole thing. But I guess being her first time out of the country that is a little understandable... Okay, I'm making excuses, Jenn and I didn't have that problem our first trips out of the country. Anyway... that was just the begining, later on she got even crabbier, and really should have just gone back to the hotel to take a nap!! Anyway after hitting the Louvre, we hopped back on the metro and headed back to the hotel to take a shower, and if you are Jenn pass out sound asleep!!! Jenn was sound asleep (see pictures!) by 7pm, Kelley conked out at 7:30p and I finally shut the light off and put my book down at 8pm. I have to admit getting back here, was like coming home. I would love to live in Paris someday, or have a second home here. Anyway, until tomorrow!
