Tomorrow is feburary! The month of love! Where I will passionetly give myself over to my film! I will jump into it's arms, and we will have Paris together.
I just did the math, and it looks like I will be animating 15 seconds a week, in order to complete this puppy in 15 weeks.
Anyways... Here's my weekend in Amelie-land.

The dome.
I point my eyes at the dome of Sacre Coeur (Sacred Heart) and begin the climb up to Montmartre (Martyr Mountian!)
Streets.
The streets are narrower, and you know you are going into a smaller, older part of Paris.
Cobblestone
Instead of paved cement on the sidewalks, you have stone.
Lady Marmalade
At the bottom of the hill, there's the Moulin Rouge, and a slew of sleazy shops as the region turns into Pigalle (Paris's red-light district.)
Windmill.
... But I like this old windmil better, covered in vines and leading into a (expensive) resturaunt as you climb the hill.
Le Deux Moulins
A small poster on the back wall marks Le Deux Moulins, the cafe that played a role in Amelie. It was packed with locals as I passed it around lunchtime.
Smartcars.
These tiny euromobiles are popular, and really adorable.
Spices.
I stop into a spice store on the way, which smells incredible. I wish I knew how to cook something that could put all these great smells to use.
Dome mural.
Inside, the mosaic on the inside of the dome really is incredible. The gold in it almost glows. I am always amazed, when I go into these churches, that regular humans like me did this.
Big poofy pretty church.
I make it to the base of Sacre Coeur, with many steps, and many people taking pictures. I join them.
Stained glass.
Narrow stained glass windows around the walls told a story, panel-by panel, like an ancient, holy, comic book.
Joan.
A statue of Joan of Arc kneels before another statue of an angel, and a stained-glass story of her life. Joan rocks.
Looking Around.
More statues, glass, and yellow light.
Artists
Outside on the plaza below the church (con) Artists are drawing visitors. I decide I do not speak english (But this scene was cute.)
Carosouel.
Also at the base of the church. I imagine this place will be fun when the sun comes back from winter.
Now you're talking.
I stop into a warm and wooden cafe on the way down the hill, and order a large (hand gestures included) cafe au lait. They bring me a giant soup bowl filled with coffee. Perfect. I finish it.
Creepy Musee
I also stop into a place called the Museum of Magic. Houdini articacts and cool hands-on optical toys are all on display. These were little dolls that moved randomly to play drums, drink wine, ect. Creepy!
Back home.
Take the bust night time subway back to Rue Vaugirard...
Monday.

Lucky, Gosh! To be in Paris the city of Love on Valentines day, I could think of nothing better, (except maybe having a date, hehehe)Geeze, you even got to see Moulin Rouge!!! All the great stuff you get to see, although it seems you could have someone there to encompany you. (hint hint) -Katie, with hugs from across the ocean
