So its been a while since a real blog post so here's one to make up for it. Since you heard from us last we were leaving Bern for Paris. We made our way by train on Thursday and got into Paris in the afternoon, headed to our hostel then to try and find something to eat. Lets say we were spoiled in Italy. Most restaurants here are open 12-3 then close until 7 for dinner. So our first meal in Paris was Asian. We headed back to the hostel to get early rest so the next day we could be fully energized. Later that night we talked to Meg's sister Beth and found out she didn't have school until Dec. 2nd, so she joined us again on some adventures. She flew in early the next morning and after getting settled we headed for the Eiffel Tower. We bundled up, headed out and groaned at the wind, but it was worth it. We came in at it from the beginning of the parks infront so the walk was worth it. Once we reached the tower we got some hot drinks to go and got in line. The wait was about a
half hour which wasn't bad. The people that work there must have a Ph.D in herding people. We got into the elevator and were squished in. Being claustrophobic is not an option going up the Eiffel Tower. We got off at the second level because you have to change elevators there to go to the top. So we stopped to get another drink and a couple snacks to tide us over. What a view. We then headed to the top, what an even better view. The arch de triophe was my favourite view from the tower. After spending a couple hours on the tower we herded our way back down and set out on foot to the Arch de Triophe. It was about a 30 minute walk to the arch. We took some pictures and started to walk down the Champ-Elysee. This was such a cool walk with big super stores on each side, restaurants at every corner and so many people. We are glad to be travelling now because we wouldn't know what to do if there are this many people at the end of November. We found a restaurant for the three of us, a vegan, a vegitarian
and a carnivore. Had some dinner and did more window shopping. It was too late to go to any of the museums at this point so we decided to go see the DiCaprio/Crowe movie Body of Lies. We headed back to the hotel after the movie and into our beds.
The next day we woke up a little late so we tried to make the most of it. We hit the Rodin museum first to see the Thinker and the Kiss. Most of Rodin's work was so amazing. After that museum we wanted to go on one of the city tours. So we walked towards the Louvre. We crossed a bridge with big golden coloured statues and onto the Champ-Elysee again. This part of it had a bunch of markets. We continued walking towards the Louvre and by the big ferris wheel and through the parks leading to the museum. We didn't want to go in to the Louvre then because it was too late to enjoy our time. So we took pictures of the outside so we wouldn't have to the next day. We jumped on one of the tour buses went by Notre Dame and back through
the city. Since we were cold and wet we decided to get off at the closest stops to our hotel and head back. When back we got some pizza and ended the night drinking, playing cards and watching the Da Vinci Code.
And here we are today. We got up and jumped on the subway to get to the Louvre. We stopped and got some hot drinks and food before we headed in. There wasn't as much security and guards as I thought there was because we did one bag check and there we were. The Louvre is split into 3 wings with 4 floors each so we decided to try and do a wing at a time. The first wing had all the Egyptian things and it ended up taking a lot longer then we thought so we headed to the main attractions. Before leaving this morning I did some research to see if we could take pictures of the Mona Lisa. All of the results said "NOOOOO PEEEEEKCHAS" again. So when we walked into the room I was so suprised to see about 100 people all with arms in the air taking pictures. So when in Paris
do as the tourists. We got some pictures but the gate was far enough back that you couldnt get a good view of it to stay there longer then a couple minutes. After a couple more stops we headed out again to eat and make our way home. I don't think Beth knew how much we walk around because her "dancer" feet were aching at the end.
Tomorrow we head to Versailles and hopefully more of the Paris bus tours. Hope everyone enjoyed the blog and pictures.

Dear Meg and Chris, when we were there many moons ago we took a picture of the Mona Lisa but we could not use a flash. The pctures are great and I agree the elevator was quite clautrophobic at the Eifel Tower! We loved Europe! Love Aunt Jan
...I could have come and carried your bags. I am so very jealous. I think that while Meg may have had a previous life in Italy, yours was in France, Chris. You just seem so comfortable with the language and the art. And can you believe it that here at 10 pm in Sault Ste. Marie and feeling lonely, the only one of "my kids" I could talk to was Meg in France. I was determined to reach out and talk to someone and it was really quite easy...so glad that there was someone at the hostel who picked up the phone this time. So if you need me to come to Scotland and help out in any way, just say the word...I will be there. Love ya!!
Hi Meg and Chris, I'm Bobby a friend of Mom Sue's and I'm glad your having such a great time but by the time you get to England and Scotland you will definitely be too tired to carry your own bags and since there are two of you I would be glad to escort Mom Sue over and help carry those bags. I already have my passport just say the word and MOM's on a Mission will arrive. LOL Enjoy your trip, I've enjoyed reading about it. Bobby
Lovely description Chris. Hope you and the girls are having a good
time. How could you not?? We are enjoying a snow day here in Callander. Oh yes, and a laundry day too.
Hi Guys
Thanks for the great written and pictoral tour. The Louvre looks very cool. It sounds like my kind of touring, with very regular dining stops. I know that neither of you would miss trying escargot in Paris, so let me know what you think of them when you have them.
Love
Dad
I'm sitting at my desk with the first real blizzard of winter happening here. I keep gazing at the photo of the Mona Lisa and I can drift away for awhile. You're really giving me the travel bug. In the meantime I just keep travelling with you. See you guys soon. Roberta
