I am inexplicably happy in Paris. Exhausted, but happy. I think I have been out no less than ten hours a day. My hostel is in Montmartre a little north of Sacre Couer, and an easy metro ride anywhere in the city. I spent one day making the trip up to the Monet gardens. They were very impressive, but much smaller, and therefore much more crowded, than I had expected. Lots of things in bloom though, and I was also able to tour Monets house. He apparently had a thing for Japanese art...and some interesting floor to ceiling tile work in the kitchen. That evening I went to the Eiffel tour, though it was a bit to cold to stay more than a few minutes. I spent on day in the Louvre, which was actually not as crowded as I expected. I think it was only about two minutes in line to see the Mona Lisa. I saw the must see stuff, and then spent the majority of my time in the Islamic Art section. Much nicer than bloody Jesus and depressed Mary. I lasted about six hours in the Louvre and then spent the rest of the afternoon in
the cemetery/park where Chopin and Jim Morrison are buried. I have been up to Sacre Couer most evenings, enjoying the amazing view and watching people kick back on the stairs with a guitar or a cigarette. It is pretty chill up there. At night I have been going to bistros and cafes outside the heart of the tourism in Montmartre, where the food is better and cheaper. One thing about Europe since I was here last...the internet cafes are slowly disappearing. They are really hard to find, I think because most people have internet in their home. And the hostels almost all have wireless. But I don't have my laptop. Anyway, the hostel here has a few ancient computers, but I haven't seen one with a USB port so will post pictures later.

You know, in half the "Madonna and Child" pictures, Mary looks stoned. She's always half lidded with this lazy little half smile... I'm glad your enjoying Paris!
