Many Parisians flock to the Marais during the weekend, joining the hordes of tourists and resident jewish community. Shops, cafe's, bars, museums and restaurants are open throughout. Aside from the Place des Vosges, Musée de Carnavalet, & Musée Picasso, the entire quartier is a wonderful pedestrian attraction. Stroll among centuries old buildings and warren of streets preserved to give the ambiance ancien.

Not to be missed are the foodie attractions along rue francs bourgouise..a selection of jewish bakeries and kosher falafel/shawarma restos/stands. They are delicious and cheap(takeout).
Find the Centré Cultural Suedois behind the Musée Carnavalet. It has a delightful café with a nice selection of cakes not found easily in Paris like carrot & zucchini..just 3e/slice and 2e mug of coffee with free refills! Also serves veggie-ful sandwiches & soups for lunch. ALso smoke free!!! Great courtyard seating facing the park for summer and warm 'ber' months.
