bonjour encore tout le monde!
i figured out how to post my pictures all in one place and still let people who don't use facebook be able to see them. cool huh?

semester classes at the cla start today. i haven't decided which ones exactly i want to take yet. i think i will go to most of them this week and guage based on the professors. technically it is possible for me to have class only mardi-jeudi (tues-thurs), which would be awesome for travelling but it would suck to have all my courses bunched together like that. you know the more i think about it, it is a damn shame i have to take any courses at all. hélas, c'est la vie!

looks like the bears are still winning. they will probably lose their first game when i return for christmas.

some friends have been wondering what the cool kids say here as far as french that might be taught in class or french that might be outdated. so here is a brief summary of what i have picked up in my almost three weeks:
je prends mon pied - literally "i take my foot," but figuratively "i'm so happy i could shit!"
un coup de main à quelqu'un - to lend someone a helping hand
tirer par le nez - literally "to pull by the nose," figuratively "to command/enslave someone"
putain de merde - putain means whore, but together its sort of like "fucking shit." according to two girls i met friday, no one says zut alors because it is too polite. 😊
t'es = tu es
chouette - cool
appeler un chat un chat - literally to call a cat a cat, akin to calling a spade a spade
un truc - a thingy/thingamabob, something mysterious, also a trick
ch'ais pas - familier pour je ne sais pas or "i don't know"
se tromper - this means to err/ make a mistake. tromper is to deceive, and se tromper is sort of like deceiving yourself. i guess. ch'ais pas...
chiant >> ennuyeux - the second one means boring, the first is stronger, meaning incredibly boring

that is a brief rundown on the lingo i have picked up. it would be impossible to cover it all, but i hope you all learned something today. with that, i feel like lunch. adieu!
