Up to date entries will NOT include a note like this. Thanks and enjoy! Dear readers, as you have noticed my last blogs: "Christmas in Nice," "Day Trip to Monaco/Monte Carlo," "My 21st Birthday and New Years in Strasbourg," "Two Days in Disneyland Paris," "Versailles and the Louvre," and "Musee d'Orsay" all took place around Christmas and New Years. I did get into some details behind some of the Christmas traditions mentioned in these entries, however I would like to give a general over view so that all of you can get an idea of what it was like celebrating Christmas and New Years in France in comparison to ... read more

An entry that takes place in the present day will NOT include a note like this. Thanks and enjoy! As you have noticed, dear readers, I did a lot of traveling around France and around Europe for that matter by November 2006. However, I was not in Europe strictly to backpack, I was genuinely in Dijon to study the French language, and then I was hoping to study at the University of Burgundy classes related to one of my majors during the Spring 2007 semester. However, as you will see, plans will change. Nonetheless, I will give you a brief overview as to what my ... read more

Note: All events described in this entry occurred between late September to early October 2006. For more updated entries and trips. please refer back to this blog at a later date. Thanks! My last four days in Krakow really sucked because I came down with either the flu or a bad case of the common cold. The next day after my trip from Auschwitz, I woke up with a sore throat and a heavy cough. I have the chills and my body aches. I have no choice but to stay in the hostel because I didn't want myself to get even more sick. the manager offers to have a staff member pick up some medicine for me, however I did come prepared with some Airborne and some cough medicine. However, in three days I started to ... read more

Note: All the events described in this entry occurred back in September 2006. Please refer to this blog for more updated entries and trips. Apart from my personal woes in my study abroad program and my residential issues, I was adjusting well to life in Dijon. I was learning the city and finding my way around. I was just starting to try the local cuisine, however I did not try any wine yet! I knew that I was in a very famous wine region, one of the most famous, however I did not know where to start in trying it. I was young at the time, only 20 years old, and I didn't drink alcohol underage back home in the states. I was interested in trying wine, but it was not at the top of my ... read more

Note: All the events that happened in this entry occurred back in August-September 2006. Please refer to blog for more updated entries and trips. I woke up the next day feeling refreshed. I still felt the effects of jetlag, but not as severely as the day before. However, I was ready to do a bit of sightseeing. I was not due to see my hostmother for another two days, so until then, I decided to explore as much of Dijon as I could. Before arriving in France, I had done research regarding recommended sites, as well as requesting a brochure from the Dijon Board of Tourism. One of the sites I was most excited to see was the Musee Archeologique, because it was an old monastery and an archeological site. On my way to the museum, ... read more

Note: This entry describes events that occurred in August 2006 in Dijon, France. Please keep checking this blog for more updated entries. August 24, 2006- I arrived in Lyon, France via plane at the St. Exuperey Airport from Frankfurt am Main, Germany and Miami, FL respectively. I had plenty of time before my train ride from Lyon Part-Deux to Dijon (about 2 hours) so I decided to take a coffee break. I went over to a small cafe in the airport that also served pastries. I ordered along with my espresso, a tarte au citron (lemon tart), and fromage blanc (lit. translated as white cheese). The tarte au citron was very good; it had a very strong lemon flavor and the texture of the custard was very soft and creamy, however the crust was too hard ... read more

Hello Everyone: Even though I have been a member of Travel Blog for the past 4 years, I have decided to start again and rewrite my entries in an effort to improve them. From this time forward, I am including the latest date in order to remind readers the fact that I am writing down these entries today, however this particular blog and its sequential entries will be a recollection of my experiences studying abroad in France and traveling in Europe from August 24, 2006-May 16, 2007. However, I have included the location as to where the blog takes place in the location section. I have decided to rewrite this blog for the following reasons: 1) Give travelers an idea of what it was like living in France 2) Hopefully my story will help others plan ... read more

Hello all, i realise the whole of italy passed without comment but i asssure it was due to lack of facilities rather than idleness. In fact what has become clear is that this trip is not quite the holiday i envisenged - with in most cases a day to see a major city, siteseeing becomes more of a mission than a repose. casing point was the hour run with my camera in tow that allowed me to explore loussanne. but jogging aside italy was lovely, verona undoubtably being the highlight- small but made a strong impression . the staple food for italy was pizza - not because we didnt fancy pasta but more to do with the fact that prices quickly doubled or quadrupled for a main meal. the nearest we got was some pasta we ... read more
