Hello from Finland!

This will be a nice and brief blog since we aren't staying in Finland for very long. We arrived yesterday (sunday) around 3:30pm and took a taxi to our hotel in Helsinki. We're staying at a Premier Best Western, which actually used to be the Helsinki prison until 2002! Best Western bought it once it closed down and renovated it into a really cool hotel. They kept one of the cells untouched and open for the public to see. It's amazing how small the cells were...hard to imagine what life was like for the prisoners here. The original building was built in the 1800's, and was bombed in WW2. The history here is amazing and there's so much character to this hotel.
Yesterday afternoon after we settled into the room, we went for a walk around the area and took some pictures. The buildings here are beautiful, so much neat architecture and history here. Unfortunately, it was election day and no stores or restaurants were open. So we walked for about an hour and came back to the hotel for dinner. It's nice to finally not have to worry about drinking the ice or eating lettuce and fruit! We went to bed pretty early and got up this morning around 5. We took a tram do the City Center and walked around there, had lunch, then just made it back to the hotel in time to leave for the airport. We head to London tonight! Hopefully the london blog will be a bit more interesting. 😊

Bye for now!!
