NyhavnThe New Harbor is the most picturesque place in the world. Gorgeous sun-drenched coffee shops line a mellow canal. It's the place to be.
Copenhagen
Copenhagen became the next leg of the journey based on a hunch that it would be enjoyable, and it truly was. I've never been to Scandinavia, but I've always heard good things: a great friend of mine had studied in Copenhagen for a few months and enjoyed it so much that he's planning to move back to ascertain a 2 year Graduate Degree. Another small motivation to visit the area was a beautiful picture of Norway that I found in a calendar which I then had put up in my bedroom.
So, I decided to make it to Copenhagen, and extremely old city with plenty to see and do.
The Nyhavn is the "New Harbor" of Copenhagen, formally a seedy harbor in town for sailers and hookers. Now it's quite the opposite, just beautifully colored houses, old ships, coffee shops and a mellow canal.
Copenhagen has much history, from it's palatial palaces guarded by Danish policemen with "beefeaters" to its beautiful Kings Gardens.
Nightlife: I don't think I've seen a nightlife as good anywhere else in the world. Everyone is out late because the summer sun doesn't set until 11pm anyway. There are
a ton of bars clubs and music venues in town, including "Den Ny Ven" which is a super-funky little indie-bar with cheap booze, cute chicks and board games. Not bad, plans to go back to visit is definitely under way.
