Two fantastic guides for Copenhagen who took great care of me!
After arriving late in Copenhagen I find the apartment of Kamila and Barthos who are two freelance photographers living in the center of Copenhagen. We manage a late dinner and they tell me about the life of a freelancer and it is a familiar story to an architect. I see some of there work and Kamila has alot of skill with portraits and Barthos is very good with buildings and artwork - so they make a good team. The day begins with a quick tour of Nyhaven and the central area of Copenhagen and having local knowledge as always means that you can see many things in a short space of time. One of the highlights is Christiania which is described as a city within the city - here a large group have made a small village where every home is individually built and unique in charachter - the main street - pusher street - is lively and has many colourful people on show. Everything can be found here from horse riding to furniture and the area provides a unique contrast to the main area of copenhagen and has a magical feel. Unfortunately as is often the case - the developers

Another beautiful sunny day!
are looking to move in and demolish the place due to rising land values and a good central location - so there is a huge campaign to save the area. It is strange that there is no value attached to such a unique place so if you want to see it then get to Copenhagen quickly! Afterwards we see the opera house and concert hall and also the Queens palace and cathedral - before adding a great evening moving out of the city to see some buildings by Arne Jacobsen. So alot in one day and with two great guides to show me everything! Get to bed late feeling like I have known them both for years and wish I had more time to spend as I know there is much more to see here - but it has been magical.
