After an abortive attempted two weeks ago in the wet weather, we finally made it to beautiful Plitvicka National Park today. This time in sunny and mild conditions which made walking very pleasant. Plitvicka consists of a series of stunning blue lakes with waterfalls cascading over travertine dams which were formed in a similar way as at Krka where we visited a few days ago. The difference being the water is provided by a series of large streams rather than one mighty river.

Our trip which took us about seven hours comprised a bus ride to the top of the system, a walk down through the travertine and waterfalls, a boat across the largest lake, a high level track past some stunning view points, down a very steep stepped track adjacent to the largest fall (Veliki Slap), back up the lower sections (which unfortunately were very crowded) and across the lake to our starting point.
