Travel Blog,
Well hello again.
Our travels have taken us to some more amazing places in the past few weeks.
We decided to head out from spain into Andora. Androa is a gigantic duty free shopping meccer. Five lieter bottles of Rum, vodka or whisky, im talking good stuff- 30 euro, a drinkers paradise, and to our surpise we only bought one bottle of Gin !!!!!!!! Andora is set high above the French and Spainsh borders, large ski fields strech accros the ridgelines accesable only buy gondelar. We looked in a few ski shops and to our surprise you could buy Spider jackets and pants for under $300 nz dollars. (for thoes who dont ski a good deal) but unfortunately it is not that praticle travlleing with ski gear in 30 + temperatures.
Lower France, wow! It is a must, St tropaiz and Monti Carlo are amazing. Even if you had a few million dollars you would not come close to the wealth in theses towns. They put the super into super yaughts.
We would have loved to spend more time their but unfourtunately one night can cost more than we have in our bank. So we headed
into Italy along the best road i have ever driven. The road clings to the coast line with a steep drop into the water below. Two lanes with no speed limit. (we think) Super cars flew pased like we stood still, even though our little pugeot was taped out at 170km it felt like we were in the gumball rally.
We stayed in a little seaside town for a few days and worked on our tans. We found a great bar that had the world cup on big screen every drink you bought came with tappers so dinner was never needed.
Croatia
We drove to Pula and could not find accomadation that was cheep enough, so after two hours or so looking for the F$@# information center we gave up. Hot and bottherd we left driving along the coast towards Spilt. We eventualy came accros a camp ground and setteld there for the night. The best thing about that day was the camp ground was full of squirls which entertaind us for the evening.
Split
Driving into spilt gave us the impression of a grotty town, but once we parked the car and walk along the waterfront
thing rappldly changed. Buses, ferrys and trains all converged on this little port. We walked passed many old ladys offering us accomadation but it did not apeal to us. We mannaged to find a spectacular apartment over looking the old town which was more our style, only a 10min walk into the main centre. The night life was great! Live bands played in the streets while people ate and drank & danced. We managed to see the Da Vinvci Code in a local movie theatre. Not as good as the book! Suprising I know. Books yes I have become quite the avad reader.
The best night we had in Split was when croatia played Austrlia in the world cup. We stumbled across a large stadium packed full of croatian soccor fans. It was awsome!! live bands played while everone got in the mood. The atmosphere was nothing we had ever seen, and once croatia scored the first goal, the sky turned red as flairs and sky rockets filled the air while people below went exstatic. We managed to meet up with a small but lively group of Aussies ,which was wicked as we all went to a club after
the game which was situated on the beach. We both had pritty bad hangovers in the morning though. Hahaha well worth it!!!
Debrovnic
It has been called many things but heaven on earth is close, though hot as hell. During the evenings the temperature was aound 30 degrees so cold showers through out the evening helped. The water in croatia is warm and amazingly clear. Our evenigs were spent people watching in the main square and deciding what restaurant to eat at. We did a day trip to an island- Lopud an hour boat ride form Debrovnic. The beach we spent the day at was half nudest so it made for interesting viewing.
We have come to the conclusion that Debrovnik is our favourite Croatian city, it has alot of beautiful cobbled streets, and and great entertainment in the evenings.
Korcula
We arrived buy car ferry and found a nice room over looking the water. That night after watching the footbal we celbrated 30/ 06/ 06 (midsummer or half newyear) Croation style. A madigrai atmosphere took over with amazing fancy dress costumes, parades, dancing and fireworks. We spent the rest of the evening at a beach party, the
night ended in a blur. The next day we spent mostly on the rocky beach in front of our room, sleeping, swimming and recovering.
So next we are heading towards Austria over the coming week to meet up with Bryleigh and Mat. We are both look foward to seeing the area and spending some time with freinds.
Please keep emailing us, we reply when we can.
Miss you all
Tim and Mel.
