WELS - AUSTRIA

We arrived in Austria on Saturday 25/9/2010 around 2.00pm after a 4 hour drive from Fussen in drizzling rain. We caught up with Wal’s relations the Weber family Leo, Michael and Katherine and that night we went out to dinner with them to a traditional Austrian restaurant.
On Sunday morning nothing was open in Wels (except some restaurants and bars) it was cold, windy and drizzling Michael and his girlfriend Sussie took us on a trip to Upper Austria where we went to a lookout. We saw a view of the winding Danube River and the surrounding countryside. We then went to the hotel on the other side of the river we saw from the lookout and had lunch in Scholgen on the river.
On Monday morning we went to Traunsee (a lake from the river Traun, see means lake) 40 kms from Wels with 2 other relations Franz & Josef. It was a beautiful sunny day (what a difference a day makes) and had lunch at a hotel overlooking the lake. We travelled around the lake to a small town Traunkirchen where we saw an old Jesuit church where there was a famous alter. We then went back to Josef’s house and had coffee and cake with his wife Hannelore.
Tuesday we travelled to the city of Linz with Franz and Leo in drizzling rain to view a Church - Monastry that is situated on top a hill overlooking Linz. Wal drove the Mercedes directed by Franz and Leo to the Church and visited inside and also took in the panoramic views from there. After we went to the lagest Shopping Mall in Upper Austria in Passsing near Wels to have lunch and for Carol to relieve her shopping urge. This was our last day in Austria and Michael and Katherine came to our hotel for a goodbye drink. Tomorrow morning we travel to Wien Flughafen (Vienna Airport) to catch a plane to Athens, Auf Wiedersehen Austria
