Jen and Kona on the beach at Manjack Cay
Paradise found! Jay and I left Green Turtle Cay and went to Manjack Cay and had one of the best days ever. After settling into our anchorage around noon, we decided to take our kayaks out and explore Manjack Bay. This Bay is very shallow and is known for its great bone fishing and wildlife. The cool part about kayaking in only 1-2 feet of water is that you can see the ocean floor very clearly. On our way over to the bay we saw a giant sting ray, which swam amongst us for several minutes. He was brown with tan spots and was so peaceful to watch as he glides thru the water. Very cool. There were also tons of star fish around the area, I never realized how big the starfish get here. And they are all different colors, from yellow to orange to bright red. We also saw lots of flying fish and other sea creatures. I even saw a small turtle as we passed thru a grassy area. The highlight of the kayak trip was that we found some conch which we picked up to make some fresh conch salad and conch fritters- very tasty! What a

treat.

While kayaking back to the boat we decided to stop by an area where there is a ship wreck. We brought our snorkel gear in case we wanted to get out and explore it more, but were disappointed to find that the ship wreck had been reduced to a pile of rust and an engine block just off the limestone cliffs. Nothing too exciting to look at, so we headed back to the boat to pick up Kona and take him to the beach.

We arrive at this pristine beach via our dinghy and are surprised to see that there have been a couple of houses built here. I guess that someone else discovered this uninhabited island paradise and decided that it was a great place to live (who could blame them). They have hammocks in the palm trees which look very enticing and have built a little cabana in the shallow, turquoise water. It is a very quaint little beach and we certainly enjoyed our time there.

We get back to the boat to enjoy sundowners. We had brought with us a bottle of wine which we purchased in France 4 years ago, trekked across

the country, and was to be opened to celebrate our new life. It was absolutely perfect- we watched one of the most beautiful sunsets over the ocean where the sun turned into a bright red orb and the sky turned from pink to red to orange all while enjoying an amazing bottle of wine. The moment the sun disappeared into the ocean, we heard other boaters playing conch shells in the distance. Apparently this is what the Bohemians do to acknowledge an amazing sunset. A perfect end to a perfect day.
