arriving at the volcano in guatamala, all of the kids are saying "stick amigo, stick, stick" for us to rent a stick off of them for the hike.
The last 2 weeks of the tour have flown by!! We have done 3 days of more than 12 hour travelling so it‘s been tiring…but still had fun!!

We left Guatemala on Monday morning 27th April and travelled all day to get to Copan in Honduras. This was a small village..not a lot to do here. We spent the evening just chilling out on the hammocks in the converted roof/barn..Was relaxing. We all went for an early dinner and got ready for a night out in the only bar ion the village that was any good! It was a good night, nothing too mad as the bars here all close at midnight. The next day here we just wandered around the village (which was mainly just a few souvenir shops and an internet café!)and the lads got to watch the Chelsea v Barcelona match. Didn’t do much else really.

The next morning we had a long day of travelling starting at 6.30am, travelling through Honduras to the Caribbean coast and then by ferry to Roatan Island. This island was lovely! A lot bigger than any of the other islands we have been to so far, and also well developed.

Apparently it is a popular place for Americans to come on holiday, so it was a lot more expensive here. The place was very similar to Caye Caulker, in that it was white sandy beaches with crystal clear water and a real Jamaican vibe from the place. Everyone spoke English here aswell. We had 3 nights here which is the longest we have anywhere, mainly due to all the long days travelling we have had this week. We didn’t do much the first night,we all just sat around after dinner and had a few drinks on our veranda! The next day was beach day! It was great being able to lie on the beach and go swimming as we have been in towns for a while now with only lakes for swimming! The beach was so gorgeous here and it was so hot! Just spent the day on the beach really, doing nothing! That night we headed down the to the little strip of bars and found karaoke…excellent!! We had great fun taking over the bar for the last hour and a half..and the place was packed!! We all sang a few songs. There was still a queue of songs

at the end of the night so the karaoke guy chose one last song to sing before it was over…turned out it was Adam’s request for ‘Drift Away’! It was great! The whole bar was singing along, Adam and some local old cowboy dude sang and iyt was just deadly!! (I recorded him too!) Again the bars here closed at midnight so we took the party to the little pier beside our hotel and continued drinking aswell as doing some midnight swimming…oh the fun! The second day here, again we just spent on the beach all day relaxing and soaking up the sun before we had to leave the next morning.

We left Roatan at 5.45am on Saturday morning (2nd May) and travelled for about 10hours to a small crappy town which was not particularly safe or nice. We only had a stopover night here, so literally just had dinner and went to bed, as we had yet another early start on Sunday morning.

Thank God we left the crap town at 6am the following morning and arrived here in Granada, in Nicaragua (a new country) at about 7.30pm that night…a long day travelling. We got stuck in

traffic at the beginning and panic struck the group as we thought we might have to spend another night in the sh*thole!! However there was a huge oil tanker which had overturned on that they could make money by transporting people like us to the other side of the accident, by driving through side dirt tracks..my god was it a mess. There was traffic coming in every direction on the tracks trying to get by, it was havoc! Eventually the police took over and sorted it out and we made it to Granada.

Granada was very like another Spanish city. Lots of small looking Spanish streets and buildings with a huge cathedral on the main square. We found an Irish bar last night where an old guy from Navan was running it, who has a sister in Templeogue (small world)!! We climbed up to the top of the bell tower and watched the sun set over the town, it was really nice. Very pretty town aswell! We had a good time here, and managed to get two nights out on the town, dancing to the salsa music (well watching everyone else more like!) squeezed in aswell!! The rest of

lava, my shoes were melting taking this shot.
our time we just spent around our little pool in the hotel…the only place we have been with a pool…it was soo soo nice being able to swim in nice water with no fish around you!!

Next on the itinerary was Ometepe…This is an island in a lake…didn‘t think much of it, and was glad to leave! Not a lot to do at all. We did rent a dirt bike for the afternoon and had a drive around the place, but that was pretty much it for Ometepe.

I was so happy when we left Nicaragua and entered Costa Rica. It felt like it was going to be a deadly place as soon as we crossed the border!! It has definitely lived up to my expectations. I really like Costa Rica, and would definitely come back. We stayed in the mountain resort of Monte Verde. It was so green, which was nice,,,trees, fields, mountains everywhere…it really is a beautiful country. I think it is the start of the rainy season here cos it rained pretty much the whole time we were here! The people here are so friendly too. We did zip lining for the day which was

crazy bints.
so much fun, I loved it!! Scared to death when you do the first one, then it’s so cool you don’t want to finish!
We headed to La Fortuna after here, also in Costa Rica, and equally as good! This was in a small town, also very rainy here! We did a day of canyoning and water rafting here, which was so much fun..prob the best day of the trip so far I would say! We had such a a great time. The canyoning was soooooo cool! We absailed down waterfalls, it was amazing! I was so so scared for one of the absails…wanted to chicken out but eventually I did it, and it was the best…I laughed the whole way down, and then started panicking when I realised I was dangling in mid air really high up...fun fun fun!! We found a club to go to here which was good fun too. The place was huge...a massive dance floor when you come in but cos it was too big they only use the upstairs area with a small dance floor. Anyways, we decided it was time to go home, and as soon as we got downstairs and on to

I claim this rock for queen elizabeth.
the big massive empty dance floor, Adam and the guys came alive and went crazy dancing and doing laps of the place…it was so so funny!!

Last stop and last night of the tour was in San Jose. We only had the night here and we definitely made the most of it. .We all went out for our last meal together, and then hit the club next door, and had the best night! The music was normal and the dj was playing all our requests (it was a Monday night, so wasn’t too busy!). It was a great end to the tour, but sad leaving everyone. Some of the guys were great and we’ll definitely be meeting up with them again along the way somewhere!! So that’s it..the tour of Central America over.

We’re on our own now, another adventure…another story to tell!

We gpot to Panama two days ago…the sweatiest place so far! It’s so unbelievable humid its horrible! The rainy season is just starting here so yesterday when we went out sightseeing for the day, it poured rain for about 3 hours. We were drenched..but still hot! We went to see the Panama canal which was pretty cool. Saw loads of the massive cargo ships in transit waiting in the canal to go through the locks and out into the Pacific sea from the Caribbean sea. There were loads of ships queuing to get through, it was great to see. Then we headed to the Botanical gardens & zoo where there were loads of cool animals to see but as soon as we got there, the rain didn’t stop and it was impossible to see anything it was so heavy, as well as the paths turning into rivers, so that was a pity!!! Last night we went out to the Causeway which is the lookout point where you can see all the skyscrapers along the coast as well as the Bridge of the Americas. It was pretty cool to see. There were so many ships just anchored out at sea, presumably waiting to pass through the locks the following morning! We were knackered after that full day of sightseeing.
This morning we went to see the old town which was nice to see, but nowhere near as nice as any of the old towns in Spain.

Just waiting for our taxi now to take
