The Mayan Ruins at Copan were quite impressive, not as large as Tikal in Guatemala, and Copan has very intricate stone carvings. The Story Staircase of Copan supposedly tells the history of the community through the carvings on the stairs. Unfortunately the staircase had fallen apart over the centuries and was reassembled in the 1930s without consideration for the proper sequence of the hieroglyphs on the stairs, so even when the language is deciphered, it will be very difficult for interpretation of the staircase.

The ball court is for a game played between two opposing teams. The objective of the game was to hit one of the three markers on the opposing teams side of the court. The loss of a game could result in death in some cases!
