The bus we rode to Tela
People really love Jesus here. Hey everyone,
The internet has not been working very well and I have been pretty busy so I have not been able to post an entry in a while.
A bunch of the teachers and me went to the Honduras-Mexico world cup qualifying last month. It was a huge game because Honduras had to win to go to the next round of qualifying. This time we rented a bus to go to the game so we had no trouble getting ther and back. The game was awesome. We got there about two hours before the game and the stadium was almost completely full already. Everyone was cheering and making noise the whole time. By an hour before the game the stadium was completely packed. It was also pouring rain most of the time which made it even more crazy. Honduras scored a goal at the beginning of the second half, it was actually an own goal by Mexico, and went on to win 1-0 to win their group and qualify for the next round. The whole world cup qualifying is really fun. The whole country is so into it and Honduras actually has a chance to qualify for the
world cup. The next round happens this next year and I am going to be able to go to two more games. Also Honduras plays the US in the US on my birthday, so that should be crazy. I am posting a bunch of pictures from the game.
Last weekend my roommate Kevin and I went to Tela and camped in Punta Sal National Park. We got a ride on a boat ou to the park and they left us over night then we got a ride back the next day. This place was amazing. The beaches were really beautiful and the jungle ran right down to the water. We hiked through the jungle to a deserted beach where we saw monkeys. I even saw a baby monkey. I slept in a hammock on the beach and woke up to a beautiful sunrise. We ended up having a four day weekend for Thanksgiving because Sunday was election day and so we got Monday off. I am posting a ton of pictures of Punta Sal.
I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. The school had a dinner for us on Thursday night which was really nice. Being away for
Thanksgiving made me miss home a little, but then I remembered how cold it is back there.
Too bad CU couldnt beat Nebraska and get to a bowl game. That is disappointing. At least the Dolphins may have a chance at the playoffs and the Nuggets are doing really well. This week was the semifinals of the Honduran football league and my second favorite team, Real EspaƱa made it to the finals. I won 100 Lemps. Yes I still find people to gamble with down here. The fist game of the finals is today.
I am going to try to post a bunch of pictures and a video. If I get bored or the computer stops working, I will post some more in an entry tomorow.
Talk to you all later,
Farley
