Barracuda!Barracuda!Barracuda!

Fried this one up on the island! I even liked it too! (Al)
Hi again!

Finally cheap internet, so i decided to write the blog while i can. We are on Roatan. Its one of the Bay Islands in the Carribean Sea off the coast of Honduras. Its probably the most beautiful place my eyes have ever invisioned. The typical white sand and blueturqouise waters, but its mountainous and green lush forest behind us. Its pretty much Vancouver Island in the tropics.

Yesterday after a horrible night in a very hot dorm room with some aussies we woke up (well i did) noone else slept, and found a new place to stay. We are staying iin luxury here. AC, TV, huge bed and even a small kitchen. Its not too expensive since there are 5 us in it. A brit (Stew) and an aussie couple (Nick and Alanna). So once we found a good place to rest our heads, we chartered a fishing boat with a bunch of people from Nanaimo. Pretty funny to be out on the water with people from your same island, in Honduras. But nevertheless it was a great crew. I caught a pretty big Barracuda, about 3 feet long, massive teeth, very cool looking fish. Thats about

all that was caught minus Andrews tuna that was close to the boat and than another bigger fish came up and bit it in half. All Andrew was left with was the head of a tuna. It was quite funny. So from there we went to a private island amongst some mangroves and white sand and cooked the Barracuda i caught on a fire grill. It was a pretty epic day. Afterwards we headed to a very old shipwreck. A boat was wrecked up on the reef probably 100 years ago, and has become part of the reef. We snorkelled among the wreckage, and saw some very cool species. Even a huge crab. All in all the day was so good. We all got super tanned and ate well.

So when on Roatan, the thing here to do is learn how to dive. Its the epicenter of dive schools and beautiful reefs to explore. Its so cheap to do so. About 250 bucks, you get a full PADI certified open waters diving ticket. Its a 4 day course, all day, about 6 or so dives. All gear and air included, even the books. So after i write this blog,

Our captains name was Homer, and he lived up to the name, the town drunk!
i think im heading down to Coconut Dive School and signing up. Im pretty sure Lauren is going to be persuaded to do so as well.

So, I will leave you with that. Hopefully the next blog entry will be Lauren describing our first diving experience.

Take care and thanks for reading and following our adventures. Love to all.

Cheers, Al and Lauren.
