Up early, well id been up half the night didn't sleep to well, 0700 its a lie in to what i'm used to now, although its 1400 UK time.

The Country Director met us we loaded a couple of 4WD's and made our way to Field Base, home for the duration of the project, in Catie in the area of Volcan Turrialba. An imposing volcanoe not exactly dormant.

We arrived roughly 2 hours later after a lengthy 60 km journey over pretty bumpy roads not your typical UK roads.

We were met by the rest of the team Marco-Logistics/comic, Hugh and Amanda-assistant logistics, Kiran-Medic, Yvette- accounts, Helen-admin, Esla and Emma p twoof the translaters going out to project.

Breakfast followed, a local speciality rice with black beans which is known as pinto. This is eaten for breakfast lunch and dinner!!!
After breakfast we go through the usal intro session and over view of the expedition.

Seems i have been nicknamed "Roy" after Roy Schnider from the jaws films!!!

The afternoon was spent going through the High frequency radis which are used to keep in touch as mobiles don't work out here, a swimming test, rules and responsibilities then a slide show of the projects.

Finally we made it to our bedroom a bunk room with 5 beds a typical boys room.

Bed what a pleasant feeling and by 1950!!!
