Placencia Village Beach
Life on the beach in Belize on a perfect day and some of the beach huts that line the seafront Well after a few days of london weather the sun has decided to show its face in this part of the world and how the place I am staying in looks so much better when the sun is out.
I have decided to wait on here and hang round the beach until the end of the week when my boat leaves. I spend the day drinking the local rum on the beach with the locals and having a few funny cigarettes to pass the time. The palm trees make a welcome change here and provide some welcome relief from the sun which does seem a lot hotter than mexico. However, I have never come across a beach with so much insects in the sand and the sand here is more browny white than the crystal white of the Yucatan are of mexico.
Apparently, I have been walking all week on the worlds narrowest street here in Placencia accoring to the Guiness Book of Records and all the hotels and restaurants and bard are based off this which runs right through the village. It is very difficult to practice my spanish here because everyone is intent on speaking either english
Placencia Village Beach
Life on the beach in Belize on a perfect day and some of the beach huts that line the seafront or garifuna so it will be nice when i eventually leave to get back on track with the old espanol again.
What more can i say about this place cos it is friendly, safe, relatively cheap, nice food and really is the sort of beach resort where you can get away from everything and maybe come across 3 or 4 people a day on the beaches here......just hope the americans dont start to invade the place soon and turn it into another bahamas with fast food joints, casinos, loud bars and niteclubs, etc.
