The anchorage in Georgetown, can you believe all the masts? Holy cow, this is a lot of boats.
We set sail for Georgetown, the southernmost port in the Exumas, and happened to arrive the week of the big cruising regatta. We couldn’t believe how many boats were anchored in the harbor, at least 400! But with the belief that there is always room for one more, we made our way in and set the hook. Now the cruising regatta is a week long event, with all kind of events like the coconut challenge, a pet parade, a scavenger hunt, a bake-off, golf and tennis and volleyball and bocce ball tournaments, and much, much more. Oh yeah… and 2 regattas, one around the island and one in the harbor. At night there are parties on the beach with music and more events like skit night and trivia night and a texas hold ‘em tournament. So much hoopla! But we had fun. We watched the skits on opening night and even played in the texas hold ‘em tournament (unfortunately we didn’t win, but at least both of us made it to the second round… it was an intense 3 hours of card-playing with bluffs and high stakes). And on our last day there we enjoyed watching the regatta; we happened to

anchor right off the start line and had a great view of all the beautiful boats zipping by. All in all we had a good stay in Georgetown. And we were able to re-provision at the grocery store and re-fill our propane tanks, always a plus.
