Last official day of tour! Played drink games last night, which was good for bonding. Probably should have been organised earlier in the tour. Left washing in hotel dryer last night - when I went to collect it was still wet. Spent half an hour trying to dry my dress with a hairdryer. Nothing else clean. Asked mum to send me a picture of dog because I miss him. She sent a pic with him sneering at the camera. Spent a good 5 mins on the floor laughing over this. Drove straight to Hollywood from the hotel. Napped a little bit and listened to Eileen's facts and history. Did you know that Thomas Edison (lightbulb guy) owned a whole lot of patents to do with film indutry, and the studios ran away out west to escape ... read more

Ok, doing this on iPhone so excuse typos. It was raining in San Fran when we left, so good timing on our part. Cruisy bus ride. Passed Facebook headquarters which might have been Palo Alto? Stopped a few times. Slept a bit. Checked out another pop up Halloween store. Will try and get a video because they are pretty cool. If I had any room in luggage I would stock up. Spent an hour and a half in Santa Barbara. Had a candy floss flavored ice-cream. Late in afternoon but hung out on beach. Got to hotel late. Enough time to satisfy wifi fix and make half hearted effort to get changed. Last night on tour. At some pub for dinner and then back to hotel for games.... read more

Woke up at midday. Pain gone from unbearable to really painful. Went in search of Jamba juice and ran into Daniel, Russ, Lucy and Chantal. Cruised around with them in Westfield. Didn't try anything on but was tempted by a pair of Burberry flats. Really wanted to go to the Haight, and to the Picasso exhibition in Golden Gate Park. Stupid ankle. Cruised back to hotel late afternoon, had some Hard Mike's getting ready, and out with group to the Castro (gay district) for dinner. Mediocre dinner. Hardly anyone went out after. Caught train back to hotel. Elle and Kendall wouldn't let Lead and I stay up and have fun. Said goodbye to Daniel. Loving the free wifi over here!... read more

Went to Alcatraz this morning. Very cool. Did a 45 min audio tour which was very good. It's incredible the history there. Spent a half minute in the isolation cell. Pitch black. Very scary. Walked along waterfront a bit with some of the group. I booked the bike tour but cancelled last minute due to injury. Fleet week in San Fran this weekend, which is where planes (the Blue Angels) and ships come into harbour. The waterfront is/was pumping. Awesome holiday atmosphere, and the weather came to the party as well. Lunch at a cafe. Portion sizes again crazy. Had a taco salad. Was good, but could only eat a tiny bit due to sickness. Left the guys and walked through market, passed and briefly joined a protest against Wall Street. Went to Apple store and ... read more

I can't really remember the bus ride from Bass Lake. Got into San Francisco around lunch time and stopped off at Fishermans Wharf for lunch. Lots of people around due to Fleet Week. Following lunch we did a tour of the city on the bus. Reminded me a lot of Wellington in a way. San Fran is not as clean as San Diego, and there are way more homeless people. So much to see - would recommend at least a week here. The group did a harbour cruise on a catamaran and then went to an Italian place for dinner. I opted not to join them - trying to avoid a couple of people. I caught a taxi to an Irish pub in North Beach. The taxi ride was out of control - I thought the ... read more

- Lots of homeless people because it is warmer in CA than on the East COast - People always give you change in $1 bills. This is because they want to assist you in tipping them. Particulalrly at bars - There is a reason why you get free drinks with you are gambling. One - because you think you are winning when in fact you are not. Two - these are not nice drinks. Stick with a Bud. Strawberry daquiris should nut ever come with whipped cream. My throat burns just thinking of it - You can eat healthy if you want. It's just not as cheap and you have to make an effort - Toilet bowls fill alarmingly high. THis is normal. Public restrtooms largely clean and always have soap. - People are so very ... read more

Took a pass on the trip to Yosemite Nat Park. It was quite rainy and cold, so stayed in bed all morning watching the Kardashians. Elle and Leah stayed back as well. We were given money for breakfast, so had a reasonable meal. Had a lot of fun with the girls - lots of laughing which is always a good thing. Had a hot tub and a swim. Had a one hour massage at the resort spa. I fell asleep - my legs were shiny though after so I assume the lady didn't slack off. Absolutely needed a break for my body. Could barely walk. Humberto (bus driver) told me he wanted to Indian magic my ankle better. Have not taken him up on this offer of a lifetime yet. This is probably my worst day ... read more

Woke up relatively early. Went downstairs for a breakfast buffet. It was out of control - pretty much every food you could think of was there. I had two bowls of gelato and and bacon and toast. My experience is Americans overcook their bacon until it is crunchy. Went to the Premium Outlet stores. Took half an hour on the bus. Very hungover and did not appreciate the bus ride. Walked round for a couple of hours buying stuff. Didn't buy that much to be honest. There was a lot I would have liked to buy, but nothing I really *needed*. Nike is so cheap over here so stocked up on that. The $20 cab fare back to th hotel was the best $20 spent in my life. Legs felt like they were about to fall ... read more

Ok, been having trouble with internet so will do my best. Drove from Grand Canyon to Las Vegas. Pretty low key bus ride. Stopped at Route 66 for a rest stop - which reminds me - need to find a post box. Got to Vegas about 2.30pm. It's amazing! Flashing lights everywhere, so much bling. Hotrel room pretty good, not that we'll ever be in it. Huge hotel - just huge. I'm on floor 24. WEnt to purchase a dress for going out. Went to the Forum Shops at Caesar's Place. Too lazy to walk further to the cheaper stores. Bought this absolutely amazing black sequined sheath. Will deal with the price of it when I get home! You can buy alcohol pretty much anywhere here, and can just drink it. Bought a MIke's Hard Lemonade ... read more

Breakfast at the amazing food court. More naked juice. I'm in love with that stuff. Also had buckwheat pancakes because I didn't have the patience to wait 4 mins for the buttermilk ones. Big mistake. Went for a ~25 min helicopter ride over the Grand Canyon. I had no idea how big it was. Photos just do not do it justice at all. It's almost a spiritul thing I think - the God of Mother Nature. After we got back, a few of us went on a mission to do our laundry at a local campground. We went for lunch at another lodge, but Mandy and I decided we could do better so left the others to enjoy their cheap hotdogs. Went to a hotel on Hopi Point called El Tovar. Eileen (tour manager) told us ... read more
