About us: We are a family of three taking on the world! September 2011 we dedicated our lives to experiencing other cultures. We quit our jobs, sold all of our stuff and began our adventure! So far we've been to France, Germany, Italy, French Polynesia and China. We're back from our China trip, but haven't finished posting about. We are currently planning a trip to Australia and New Zealand!

This blog is a long one, but I figure since it's been awhile since I've posted you all wouldn't mind :o) Also, I am now having trouble with my Flicker account, so there are no links to albums. I tried to create a link for the albums from my iPhoto, but I can't figure out how. I'm not very computer savy, lol. If anyone has suggestions on an easier way to upload albums let me know! Oh and after this post I am not going to have access to Face Book anymore b/c you can't get FB in China. I've had it up to this point b/c my friends have the Astrall VPN on their computer, but they are leaving tomorrow. So, if you've been reading this through the FB posts and you want to keep ... read more

Day 4: Today we went to the Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery, Kowloon Park (two of them actually, will explain later) and the Avenue of Stars. It was a big day!! Ten Thousand Buddhas Monastery is technically not a monastery b/c monks do not live on the premises, but it has no joke over 10,000 statues of Buddhas. 500 are life sized and the rest are little figurines. Each statue has a different pose and expression. Some wear accessories, some hold props, one with a really long right arm, one with very long legs and one with arms coming out of it's eyes! We also recognized the Buddhas that Logan photographed for the All-Yen Collaborative! We walked up 400 steps to the main temple and the closer we got the smell of incense filled the air. After a terrifying 30 minute cab ride, we were at Vic & Ri's compound, Quan Fen Garden. Victor & RiAnn Caban are old friends of mine. They were both teachers in Orlando and about four years ago Vic started researching about teaching opportunities in other countries. Eventually they found what they were looking for in the American International School of Egypt in Cairo. So they moved to Egypt! They lived there for about two years and now they are in China teaching for the Western Academy of Beijing (WAB). They have two kids, daughter Denali (age 8) and son Khi (age 5). The last time we saw them was 4 years ago so we were looking forward to connecting with them again! The first days of Beijing were spent rejuvenating from Hong Kong and spending time ... read more

A 24 hour train ride later, we arrived at Beijing West Railway Station safe and sound! First order of action, find a taxi to Victor and RiAnn's house. They suggested this mode of transportation b/c the closest MTR is 20 minutes away from the station, but they also warned us that getting a taxi would not be easy b/c there are 20 million people in Beijing, but only 70,000 taxis. No worries, we were up for the challenge! RiAnn had already emailed me directions and said it should cost around 100 yuan ($16). I Google Translated the directions so I was feeling confident we'd be good with the language barrier. However, we didn't exchange any dollars for yuan before we left HK b/c we figured there would be an ATM at the station. Little did we ... read more

Hi everyone! I apologize I'm not getting these posted quick enough, but the photo upload on this thing takes forever!! I finally gave up on it and decided to upload only a few photos on the blog and then the rest on a Flicker album. The album links are at the end of each day. Also, since I'm new at blogging I'm having a hard time organizing my thoughts on our daily adventures. I've been trying to be as detailed as possible, but we're doing so much, so I feel it starts to get monotonous. Therefore, I'm going to keep things as simple as possible in the blog and add more descriptions to the photos. I guess just bare with me until I get the hang of it :o) Day 2: Since our first day was ... read more

I know, I know...that phrase is way over done...but I couldn't help myself :o) This blog is broken up into two parts. Part 1 is the night we arrived and part 2 is our first full day in Hong Kong. Part 1: 20 hours later, we made it!!! Phew...that's a long plane ride! Luckily, when we landed the whole process of getting off the plane, going through immigration and getting our bags took only about 20 minutes. I'm very impressed w/ Hong Kong's airport, it's clean and easy to navigate around b/c all the signs are in Chinese and English. We decided to take a taxi to go straight to the boat we're staying on in Aberdeen Harbour. If you've ever been in a cab in NYC you know how crazy the cab drivers are...well I'm ... read more

Welcome to our Travel Blog!! Ok, ok…we were supposed to start this a while ago, but better late the never right?!? I'm sure there are a lot of people I'm missing on my email list, so feel free to share this blog to whomever! In addition to that, I've sent this out to everyone on my email list, which means people I may have emailed or recieved emails from randomly probably got this, so you can ignore if you wish and I apologize for the inconvenience. A brief update of events up to this point: So far, we've spent 2 months in Europe and 3 months in French Polynesia, visiting 4 countries, 17 cities and 6 islands.
