Sam's mom
Sam's mom was ultra cool. She cooked for me, put up with my no Chinese speaking-ness, and was all around a great lady. Thanks again!
I arrived in Singapore with my whole weekend taken care of for me by the gracious Sam Chow. He hooked me up with his family and friends in Singapore, who were kind enough to really take care of me. Alissa, his sister, took a lot of time out of her day on Friday to come and meet me at the airport, then bring me back to villa-Chow (which was about an hour away). After a fantastic meal from Sam and Alissa's mom, Alissa and I hit the road to see what Singapore's night had to offer. I was told as we [View Full Entry]

So the highlight of this day was to meet up with Jacqueline, who is a friend of a friend from SF. She took me to a place called Dragon I (cute, right), which is a spectacular Dim Sum place. It turns out that we could eat all of the Dim Sum that we wanted for a set price of HK$110. This is a good deal! Even if you think in terms of water bottles, which I didn't have to anymore. She also told me what it's like to live in HK, and we chatted about all sorts of things. All in [View Full Entry]

This could be anywhere. Certainly not Hong Kong...
I took the ferry out to Lamma Island. I love being on the water, so half of the fun for me was to ride the ferry. I can't believe how easy it is to get around in HK. I believe that the ferry only cost a few US dollars (by this point, I had finally learned the exchange rate, and no longer felt the need to think in terms of water bottles). The funny thing was that there were a bunch of kids that were apparently playing games with one of the crew. The kids would do something silly, then bang [View Full Entry]

Stranger in a Strange land
Stranger in a Strange land
This is how I felt when I first arrived.
So begins my very first blog entry. Ever. Sorry in advance for the spelling - it doesn't seem like I have a spell checker available. The flight Very Very Very long. Perhaps the longest ever. In all seriousness, the flight wasn't that bad. I left SFO at 12:30 AM (Sunday night), so I was able to sleep through most of the flight. I arrived in Hong Kong at 6:30 AM on Tuesday. Good thing that I don't like Mondays 'cause I didn't even get to have one this time. Then again, Mondays are really only meaningful to those of us that [View Full Entry]
