It was certainly a week of all out fun, madness, rekindled friendsips, more footy and american mayhem The highlight of the weekend was taking part in State of the Origin III game in the ANZ olympic stadium. It was a highly anticipated battle between the allstar players of the two rivaling states: New South Whales VS. Queensland. Unfortunatley I was rooting the underdog, NSW, and we got our asses anded to us. The stadium waqs alive with color, noise, and competition between both sportsteam and sportsfan. Needless to say footy is intense! oh yeah... footy=rugby! :) In the past 21 years I cant remember a single independance day where I didnt stick my feet in the sand. No point in breaking tradition now. Its off to coogee beach with as many americans as we can muster ... read more

When in Sydney- See the sights Experience the Vibrancy that is this Gorgeous City by the Sea, Also Known as Sydney Sydney is undoubtedly the most well known place in Australia and for good reason. It's a mixing pot of ingeneous and classic architecture, diversity amongst its inhabitants, and an encoumpassing friendly demeanor. The natives say things like bloke, skull, cuppa, pips, prawn, cheeky, and the list goes on and on. Practice enough patience, listen long and hard and eventually instead of asking what in the world people are talking about- you just get it. My Tour de Sydney begins wit a multimillion dollar boat, docked in the harbour, awaiting passengers to be paraded from Bondi beach to circular quay. The backdrop is a bustling city scape colliding with the tranquil ocean; both being smoldered beneath ... read more

Treated me kind, sweet destiny carried me through desperation" -Mariah Different surroundings New beginning My "mom" is gone and run off to Cuba for three weeks. My "sister" has gone to stay with her father. My "roommates" have moved out and inot their apartment. Most of the other interns are in cresent head trying to surf. What was here yesterday is gone for tomorrow. Weird when I think about it. This is the week I took off my training wheels. With no one familiar around I'm officially on my own for a bit. As the week progressed I settled into my new housing arrangement with two new roommates, two new employees at work and an entire country to absorb. One goal i had was to learn rugby, I see no better time then now. Especially with ... read more

Blanket the earth in eucalyptus blue and the edge of katoomba will be staring back at you. Found my way out of the city Only to get Lost in the country The city of Sydney slipped out from under my feet and the sirens, skyscrapers, and strangers faded into last weekend. Just North of the city I found Oz's calming version of a Yanks New Hampshire- full of outdoor wonder to explore virtually at the cost of nothing. The landscape was full of horses, cows, windy dirt roads and junkyard lawns. The Blue Mountains National Park had much to offer a group of tourists. The mountains provided an exhausting day of hiking amongst giant waterfalls, luscious bushwalking, miles of stone-chiseled staircases and a 300 metre depth to climb 'in and out' of. The first sto... read more

Well I made it, New South Wales- Home in Australia at long last!! This Home is foreign to me, and I'm finding work is, for once, Intriguing Four flights in the past week, and 3 time changes have left me exausted. Nevermind how horrible my ears feel from overexposure to underwater and cabin pressure. Although I'm tired I'm excited to make it to my home for the next 10 weeks. I'm also axious to meet my rent-a-family and probono employers. The living situation is luxurious but seems to have a business arrangement feel. I'm living with a couple, both their second marriage and an 8 year old Mia. I also have two roommates, both from Columbia and here to learn english. It's fun because I can speak with them in spanish and we facilitate learning on ... read more

I arrived in beaultiful sunny cairns on 05 june 08 after traveling a little under an entire day. cars, planes, buses and boats whatever it takes to get where your going Having gotten to sydney after a 13.5 hour flight, I'm again sitting in an airport surrounded by white-washed cynderblock walls and darkened cloudy windows. All I want to do is breathe fresh air, and maybe have an edible meal. The next three hour flight to the Cairns orientation was hectic. The plane got delayed, the weather was bad and in turn so was the turbulence, at the time I thought my ears had never popped so badly. As we crept towards our first destination the clouds lessened from the prying sun. As we came upon the shoreline to the heart of cairns the mountains fell ... read more
