It was certainly a week of all out fun, madness,
rekindled friendsips, more footy and american mayhem
The highlight of the weekend was taking part in State of the Origin III game in the ANZ olympic stadium. It was a highly anticipated battle between the allstar players of the two rivaling states: New South Whales VS. Queensland. Unfortunatley I was rooting the underdog, NSW, and we got our asses anded to us. The stadium waqs alive with color, noise, and competition between both sportsteam and sportsfan. Needless to say footy is intense! oh yeah... footy=rugby! 😊
In the past 21 years I cant remember a single independance day where I didnt stick my feet in the sand. No point in breaking tradition now. Its off to coogee beach with as many americans as we can muster to bbq, rock climb, kick back some beers, hike and see the sights.
After transfered a few buses and suffered public transport for well over an hour the road opens to colliding horizons of blue and the 257 creeps toward mt long awaited destination. I cant help but appreciate the beauty around me and obviously think what it would be like
You can find me
in the sunshine of life to live here and if those that do still appreciate it. I accidentaly soak myself immediatley by trying to touch the water that was so obviously approaching to fast. Whoops- looks like im in wet shoes and jeans until they dry and I find cheap flip flops.
The day fell into night and grilling transpired. The one thing missing now was a night sky exploding with fireworks. Now that I think about it I was missing FDA approved beef -I would have loved a hilltop/bubba burger. The ones from here have different stuff like shaved carrots in them.. not so great! And dont even get me started on the hot dogs, inedible. Or maybe we just bought some funky hot dogs! Either way we ate, we drank, we caught the last bus back to the city. A good night. There were visitors from cairns, brisbane, canberra, and new castle joining us and everyone was in high spirits.
Later we went to kings cross, or the cross. Many people rant and rave about thr party scene at the cross but I wasn't impressed. The streets were dirty, the people were intimidating, everywhere had overpriced cover charges and the drinks
were tooo expensive. On the plus side though- I did find a statue of a topless female gnome, which was quite funny. And I found a stag american flag toothpick at one of the pubs which I was very excited about. It was such a little treasure to find in the middle of Oz on an american holiday. I can't lie- I kept it!! 😊 The night ended on a positive note - we found live music and a lovabvle irish family who was more then encouraging to have us join in their circle of horrific dancing. I felt quite at home (just kidding, us Kerins' can cut a rug!!)
The weekend was almost at an end but we had sunday to look forward to. And although the previous days excursions took a lot out of me- there was plenty more fun to be had, things to do, and food to try. Sydney was holding an event known as 'the Aroma Festival' similar to the big dig - jam packed with chocolate, coffee, performances and much more!! YUMM!! so basically my breakfie and lunch consisted of some heavy duty chocolate tasting and coffee trying. I didn't even want to
Heaven
on Earth think about the calorie I consumed - enough for any nutritionist to keel over i'm sure.
Next stop- Luna Park. A year round carnival found right under the Sydney harbour bridge. Honestly- after all the food I couldn't go on any rides but i've never had so much fun in fun mirrors before. And I bumped into men at work wannabees - only they didnt know who they were trying to be . . . ?
Next stop- Stir crazy, an incredibly good thai food restaurant and a much needed rest on my poor legs! (For anyone that hasn't had thai and doesn't enjoy trying new food, I suggest you do because it's to die for and theres something for eveyone!!) But before we got there I found myself stuck to the very spot I was standing. In front of my eyes was the most beautiful day yet to take in the harbour. The clouds were soft and silver lined. The noise of cars and trains disappeared for all of 30 seconds, and life just was.

So Much Fun
Hi my law, Looks like you're having a fantastic time. I especially like the american flag--I'm sure you still have it. You take wonderful pics and the comments make me laugh out loud--but maybe I'm a little partial. Can't wait to see you. Luv U.
