So, the internet on our office went out. No good at all. I'm borrowing someone else's right now, and I dont know if we'll ever get it up again, so there will be a serious lack of posts for a while. Hopefully we get something figured out soon. It's gonna drive me crazy. But, things are good, we're gonna be on the Super Bowl, so everyone watch CBS and look out for us! I think that's it, sorry I wont be able to post more often. Miss everyone!!!... read more

I couldn't help myself, I just had to put down the camera and do some two-steppin'. Heh. Also, I have some neat pictures for everyone to see. I hope everyone is doing well, things here are pretty good. I miss everyone, and can't wait to come home! 8 more months until I go on leave! Hopefully It'll go by fast. It's been pretty busy lately... I've been doing those 'shout out' things... you know, "Hi, I'm whoever and I wanna wish someone a happy holiday." So now that I'm done with that, I can relax a little. Not too much else is going on though... I am excited about Christmas. It'll be a busy day, but at least it'll be festive. Hmmm, I think that's it... Hope you like the pictures!... read more

My Thanksgiving

November 24th 2006

That was definitely an interesting Thanksgiving Day. As sad as I am that I wasnt really able to enjoy celebrating it, I'm pretty thankful that I got to experience it. We had outside media (CBS and Reuters) come in to cover the festivities, so instead of being able to sit and eat, we spent a good portion of the day escorting them. The CBS guys were pretty cool, and I didn't mind it so much. And when they were done, I sat down with them and had my mashed potatoes and cranberry sauce. Granted, the band was done playing, and the room was pretty much empty, and two of them weren't from America, but it was nice. Then for dinner, our office was able to eat together and I was able to get to the pumpkin ... read more

Unfortunately, not too much exciting has happened. I might be spending for time with the AFN guys, though, which is very exciting. I'm actually where they work at now, and I've ran into quite a few people from DINFOS (Defense Information School, where I went to train for my job). It's like a reunion or something. But, if I do end up working with them, I'll get to learn all sorts of new stuff, including lots more TV stuff and radio. They do a daily news show here that i got to watch them create. It was awesome... the program we use to edit video is called Avid. I thought I knew it well. Boy, was I wrong... Watching the guy put it all together, I had no idea what was going on. But, all the ... read more

So, I got into Baghdad about a week ago. It's really not so bad. We have our own media center, which is probably about 20 times larger than our office at Fort Hood, so that's really nice. I'm sharing a trailer with one other person. It's pretty small, but I have an actual bed and places to put all my stuff. This is a really nice base, and so far, I'm actually kind of enjoying my time here. I had Iraqi food for the first time the other night. It was... interesting. Our interpreters made us dinner, and I tried something that looked like a hushpuppie and then some soup-y stuff. I can't say I really enjoyed it, but I did finish everything on my plate. There's a little coffee shop here that has some great, ... read more

November 3rd 2006

So, I've been here in Kuwait for about 2 weeks now. I'm just now getting a cance to use my own computer on the internet. it's not so bad here... I'm living in a tent on a cot, with about 20 other girls. It's air conditioned, and although you have to walk a mile to get to anything, there's a Taco Bell, Subway, Burger King, coffee place, pizza place, and many call centers and internet cafes. The dining facility is better than any of the ones I ate at back in the states, and they ALWAYS have grilled cheese. The only real downfall is that I found out I have eczema. I've had it for the last two weeks and just now found out what it was. But at least now it's treatable. I've done four ... read more
