Happy 20thbirthday, Kieran. Not an irresponsible teenager any more becoming one of us, right? Everyone had a task to somehow use their prize today. Molly had to use her brand new princess cup and spoon for her breakfast. Fintan packed his morning tea in his Dora lunch box. ---------------------------------------- Waimea School Camryn had her bangles and Georgia wore her big sunnies to the school. (Their prize) Others brought their new pink drink bottles. This school had good skippers and great gymnasts. There were very happy kids and happy coach who were ready to learn new skills. They worked quite hard and learnt a lot. Jeremy was asked to perform his freestyle routine and he was doing an excellent job until his rope got stuck in the railing on the ceiling. Epic. Jeremy completed the routine after ... read more

It was sooooooooooooooooo windy today, seriously windy that we couldn’t even stand still while watching Sacred Heart Starters’ demonstration. ------------------------------------------------- Sacred Heart – by The UniKorns + Kieran As we got to the school it was as windy as a hurricane (Georgia). To our surprise we were going to be skipping on fake grass outside, it was like a nightmare on elm street (Ellie). We watched the Heart Starters do their demonstration as our hearts filled with wind and sand (Kieran). They withstood the flying debris and showed us a killer routine. After we did a quick workshop we did a good performance while high schoolers walked past and shouted out like talking bananas (Bec). As we finished up our routine, Jeremy got approached by lovestruck fan girls, it was sooooo cute. ------------------------------------------------- Putt Putt Golf ... read more

We could sleep in a bit this morning, phew. Everyone woke up at about 6:45 for breakfast and hair braiding session. Kieran, Leila, Jeremy and I are definitely learning more about these kids. Some are excellent to work with others, some are very independent and some are very caring and generous to others. -------------------------------------------------- First School – Cambridge This school has eight swings in a row. Isn’t that impressive. The school has brand-new buildings with last year’s BER program. Great audience , possibly the most difficult surface to skip on so far. (thick carpet) -------------------------------------------------- Richmond + Maze and a spontaneous performance by Ellie Wilkinson Our second performance was cancelled, so of to the maze we went. We drove in and park the van to be greeted by an old man named Peter with a big ... read more

We had a very early start today as our first performance was organised at Campbell Town which is 90 minutes’ drive away from Hobart. -------------------------------------------- Wake up + breakfast and lunch preparation – by Molly Finlayson All the girls slept in the cottage. I was in a room with Georgia and Ellie, Bec and Camryn were together and Leila and Lulu were in the same room. We had to wake up at 5am to prepare ourselves for the trip to Lauceston. We each ate our breakfast at the girls’ cottage. I had Crunchy Nut cornflakes. We set up juices, musli bars, apples, ham, cheese, butter, jam and salad to prepare our lunch and morning tea. -------------------------------------------- Campbell Town School Performance – by Bec Bennett It was an early start but after gathering ourselves together, we eventually ... read more

First Day! Early morning! We got together at 6:20 (well most of us were there, right?) at Northbridge school. Tina G and Tim F drove us to the airport while Bec and Fintan were driven by Bec's dad. The flight was quite OK apart from the fact we had to braid kids' hair madly in order to get ready for the first performance at Parliament House. Here I asked soe kids to write a bit about our first day. --------------------------------------------- It was a very good flight except for the fact that every 5 minutes we had to change seats so we could finish off braiding everyones hair for the performance at 11:45 at the Parliament House. When we got off the plane, we met Megan and got our bus then headed of to the Jump Rope ... read more

Why didn't anyone tell me how big the met is? It is huge. I started touring at 10:30 and finished (well not quite 'finished') at 4:30. 6 hours of art overload. Their collection is just overwhelming there are gogh after gogh, Renoir after renoir and more Rembrandt's after Vermeer's. I really love Rembrandt but Degas was so beautiful. Sourat and Klimt also. Decided to see Sister Act after tossing among spiderman and Wicked (also Book of Mormon was one of the options.) Again I bought the ticket at about 5pm and got a great seat. Row G, orchestral circle. Visited times square for the last time after the show and just having dinner now. Gosh I like this place. I am watching Olympics wiall the waiters here and one of them told me that he went ... read more

Now where should I start .... Next day after the competition we drove to Orlando where some kids visited Harry Potter World which, I believe, is part of universal studios. I went shopping and caught up with my friend who is performing in a cirque du soleil show in Orlando. Cam, Ellie, felix, lulu, maya, all the parents and I went to see the show from 6pm. (need to get some photos off them) my friends who are skippers in the show kindly took us to the back stage after the show. Oh, the show was fantastic by the way. Next day felix's family and I went back to Tampa where felix and I marched in the opening ceremony of the fisac world championships. It was fab. We made new friends- Swedish skippers. I reckon that ... read more

Day 2 was for 12-14 and 15-17age groups as well as 18+individuals. Felix and Camryn performed well in pairs freestyle and came 5th. Fintan and Anaiis also ddid quite well and came 6th. A bit of an up and down day. Everyone scored some PBs on the championship floor. Fantastic effort kids. Kieran Tan performed superbly in his freestyle and came 5th. It was definitely the highlight of my day. It was actually my birthday today and athletes sang happy birthday for me at the presentation. That was neat. Surprisingly Jeremy, Sandra, Leila and Aimee scored another medal for double Dutch 2x60sec. Bonus. Third day was for 12-14 and 15-17 individuals. PBs PBs and PBs. Felix's 3 minutes speed, Fintan's 30second speed, Louis's 30second speed and Jeremy's both 30s and 3 mins. Jeremy's 89 for 30s ... read more
