On the road again
We will continue with the early starts and you can keep going with the cold starts. Couldn't agree more with your comments about Hong Kong. We look forward to hearing more and merging our two blogs for a few days in England. Travel safe.

Thanks Jeanette. Hope you and Grant are keeping well. We are now in Riga - a very scenic town, but the occupation museum gave serious pause for thought. Cheers C & S

Very interesting!
Jeez, guys! this is another set of great pics! Thanks for keeping us up on what it's like to just chuck work in and go jaunting around the countryside. Can't wait for the Europe blogs from May. Keep having fun; you're dead for a very long time - so they tell me. Cheers!

Untitled
Untitled because it's Sunday morning and I'm not as good as Chris at writing. I found the commentary just as interesting as the pics but I got into trouble for laughing out loud a few times cos the male member of the household is trying to read the paper!! A very important persuit that needs to be undertaken in quiet surroundings (obviously). We were wondering when you were heading off again and now we know. We'll get back to you in May. Stay safe. XXX

Well Done
An enjoyable read .... hope to catch up soon. Dragons have done the right thing by you since you left - only exception was the Sharks. Welcome back to Sydney!

Memories
We've enjoyed going on this journey with you. Brought back lots of wonderful memories. Seems Glenelg can still dish it out!! And we were there in the summer. We definitely DO have one of the most beautiful places to travel in the world. Love to you both.

Cold in Bardwell Valley
Hi guys. Been a while since I've popped in to see what you have been up to and boy have you been around! Awed by some of the photographs, Chris will have lots of fun deciding which ones to put into an album. Looking forward to catching up upon your return.

Do they have whoopee cushions in Peru?
Thanks Steve. You don't only ride shotgun - you're a great source of material! Although we didn't sample much in the tasting sense, I think a count of the empties would reveal a frightening volume of red wine consumed over the trip! See you guys soon.

You sound relaxed now
Hi Chris and Sharon, Still jealous - but a little less now as our own holiday moves into the foreseen future. Your blog is a little more like I am used to reading although it still lacks a little. I suppose you cannot put Sharon down too much - as you have a few more weeks of her as your sole companion. And there is nobody riding shotgun for you - I normally take the heat off you by getting into trouble with my own comments about Kim.....LOL. Looking forward to catching up when you return. Cheers! PS Can't believe you didn't do much sampling of the grapes there!

Really enjoying your trip, schooner comment brought back memories!

I put my probably completely misplaced faith completely with the tour guide! LA will probably be in October or November; hopefully it will fit in with your schedule as well.

More GREAT pics! WOW!
Eh Digger and Shaz, Thanks for the new great pics. About 5 years ago, I was looking in to taking a trip to Taz, and I thought that Wiineglass bay was the best attraction. My idea was to go down there and swim across the bay. Well, once again, you've saved me the trip. Funny you mention Grant. I just talked to him and sent him and email the other day. I'll probably hear from him shortly. Haha... I'd forgotten about the 'map of Tassie' analogy for the integument of the feminine mons veneris. Looking forward to the Hong Kong part of your trip. Should be interesting - you've gotta be bonkers to miss out on Honkers. I've had a few beers there, by the way. Me mate Brett owned the "Aussie Fish Cafe" on the corner of Lockhart and Luard on Wan Chai (Island). He became a squillionaire out of it - selling between 70,000 and 100,000 meals a week. AND, it was because of the quality of his fish; it all came from New Zealand. Anyway, a local business man Billionaire made him a nice offer, so Brett sold the store. I wonder if it's still there? Boy, if you come out to LA, give me a bit of lead time, and we'll arrange a couple of things. That'd be great! Apart from anything else (such as local knowledge tour guide) the beer is still only $19.99 for a 30-pack. Gotta luv that! OK, guys, thanks for the very interesting travel notes. I think it's terrific! Drink More!!! Jack!

You're right about amazing and diversified! We've seen everything from snow in Crandle Mountain (and later, sunshine), to magnificent scenery in Bay of Fires and Freycinet. Hope the Hong Kong cruise is going great!

Steve, this is a children-friendly blog, can't let my normal feelings out! Rest assured though, the cynical, sarcastic old bastard is still there, but without you and Kim to provide the material there's not much to work with! Seriously, Tasmania is a great place andI can see what the numerous people who recommended it to us were on about. We're really enjoying it!
15th March 2011

Hey Jack So glad to hear you're reading our relatively mundane travel stories. We've just been to Inverloch in southern Victoria to a jazz festivel with Grant (he says hello) and his wife Jeanette. Interesting to see a set from Gil Askey, 86 year old motown guy who still plays (trumpet) and sings up a storm! Having heard about the general knowledge of the average American when it comes to international (or even national) geography, I can understand some the confusion about about an obscure island of about half a million people, even one that that looks like a female pudenda! I'm not sure about our diplomatic relations; it's just a bit hard to get over how courteous the Taswegians are. Very slow, courteous drivers. Slow but damn goo food food. Nice place. We dropped into Martie's memorial (or at least, everyone else's) at Port Arthur. Surprisingly little is made of it, when it's still a rather overestimated impact on our national psyche. We felt reallybrave crossing those bridges, but I don't think the Tacoma Narrows really comes into it. Just a bit of "wait till I let go before you take the photo". Our travels should take us to LA later in the year - really like to catch up then, in the meantime, thanks mate for the comments and the thoughts.

We really enjoyed our informal dinner in Hobart - feels like we were just there yesterday too!
15th March 2011

We also had no idea what a great place it is. Even though we had been told many times we weren't prepared for the number of great photo opportunities all so close together!
15th March 2011

Hi Lily, glad you are enjoying our stories. Hopefully we will visit some more places that you have been to and that might bring back some happy memories. We are looking foward to going to the UK in June.
15th March 2011

Thanks Vicki, glad you are enjoying the photos. Looking forward to comparing Tasmania stories when we get together again.
15th March 2011

Good luck with the weather continues - forecast for Apollo Bay tomorrow is max 16.
15th March 2011

Thanks Ann, glad you are enjoying it. We try to add to it every 3 destinations or so. Maybe we can get together when we are back for a few weeks at the end of March.

Looks great
Hi Sharon & Chris You look as though you both are having a wonderful time. The photos are absolutley beautiful. Waiting for the next lot to come. keep enjoying Ann Fordham

Thanks for the tour. Had not really appreciated the beauty and diversity of Tassie before this.

Welcome back
Welcome back to the North Island - we trust you turned out the lights when you left Tasmania. Did you remember to put your watch forward 100 years as your left Devenport. This section of your trip sounds and looks like it has been a success, good training for Europe. Before we meet up in Wales we would like you to change your luck with the weather and fine some dry AND warm weather. We look forward to the next post. ChrIs & Jeanette
