After a snap decision we are now soaking up the sun on Ko Phi Phi. All of our previous attempts at island hopping had failed due to lack of transport or crappy weather or a total misunderstanding of what was going on....some of the conversations we have had have been totally hilarious and wouldn't be out of place in the movie 'lost in translation' - in fact, sometimes it feels like we are starring in that film!! We finally made it off Ko Lanta - we had to abandon our dreams of living out the Robinson Crusoe fantasy on one of the many gorgeous islands (Ko Hai, Ko Muk) which surrounded us and were spitting distance away, due to the cyclone in Myanmar - such a tradegy! We actually didn't hear of it until now as the electricity and therefore internet has been extremely intermittent. Dealing with Thai's can be a real challenge sometimes, mostly because they look so damn friendly. We are finally in Thailand!!! I have to say that i am really really happy to be out of India - i am still not quite sure how to explain what India was like - hard work, stinky and really really DIRTY!!!! India is something that you need to work up to - many many many other asian countries should be visited first before attempting India (especially Delhi) The people are amazing though - oh and we found happy hour at the Hotel Intercontinental from 4pm - 7pm every night which we totally indulged in. Brisbane, Bangkok & Delhi in 24 hours - we have travelled by plane, Delhi metro, a sleeper train, tuk tuk & a very old rambling vehicle which the Indians call a bus to finally arrive in MacLeod Ganj in the Himachal Pradesh region of northern India where we will be staying for 10 days. It's awesome to finally be here. Delhi was um, filthy. I can't really think of any other word for it. It's an amazing city and absolutely HUGE with so many contrasts. What an amazing day it is in Sydney, the sun is out, the weather is perfect. I'm sitting in the office looking out across the brilliant blues and greens of the harbour and surrounds. I've seen it a thousand times before. This is my last week here. I'm giving up the perfect weather and amazing views for who knows what! Sydney is turning it on now I've decided to go.
