After a 10hr flight with the best airline in the world ‘Emirates” we arrived 1 am in the morning and had our first experience of Taxi drivers who can’t speak English and have no idea where one of the most popular Bangkok Hotels is..... and pls driver ‘put the f...g meter on’!!!! BKK is the land of organised mayhem, exotic aromas, Tuk Tuks, cheap taxis and crap coffee. Well folks after 83 days travelling to Honkers, around Europe and Oz because I can, I am done albeit I still feel the travel juices flowing inside me and Im not sure if I’m ready to face the rate race in 15 days time. Hate to see what my carbon footprint is, but rest assured it’s a shocker. Well I finally got my luggage delivered a couple hours before leaving London.... whew.... and headed home on VS200. No plastic wrapped pies this time but we did have foil wrapped bacon and egg roles for brekkie! Oh well priority was to get home, not my stomach I think! I finished my novel about playing NFL in Italy it was a good way of weaning myself off whilst reflecting upon my adventures in Europe! Once arrived packed a ... read more

Athens PT 2 not much of a travel blog but a social and health blog!! Finally got out of the place but at least not without a half share of a 4th floor 2br apartment right in the middle of Athens, right behind the old Olympic Stadium...not bad ay!........Once I get those nice little titles in my hands Im taking bookings! As I mentioned in my FB Status, I returned back from my feisty little 83 yo aunt’s place (dads side) from Korintho (as in Korintho Canal) with a bomb going off in front of Parliament house right next to those nice little soldiers who wear those nice pleated dresses! WTF garbage and ferry strikes (whilst we were on Mykonos), student protests, cops shooting kids and bombs going off in front of parliament house....Gee weez these ... read more

Well folks I spent 5 days in Berlin having the most revealing history lesson on the 20th Century. To be there and to see first hand what this City went through is unbelievable. Berlin is a city whereby the taxis are all new Mercedes Benz, the buildings seem to have been designed by Stalin’s personal architect, matter of fact I think he had a hand in Canberra to...........everything is such on a grand scale. The boulevards are massive, as too are the simple cold Stalinist looking box shaped buildings which Le Corbusier would of loved and then there is the unbelievable history of the city. Londons’ Tube map looked like spaghetti with bolognaise well Berlin S and U Bahn map looks like spaghetti with Mayonnaise!..still didn’t master it after 5 days. Before I get started has ... read more

Sorry folks I know Im a bit late with the next travel blog installment, but batching it has sidetracked me... but anyway with the spacecadets safely given to the V-kids hostie I begin my solo traveller tales.... stayed another day in London and took in all the War Museums what else is there to do when you’re stuck in the middle of a snow downpour... I must admit very cool! Museums were fantastic it seems the poms can’t keep their noses out of every god damn war created by mankind. Visited my first (one of many) Holocaust exhibitions. They do these very well and the original artefacts from the concentration camps were quite mind boggling. The thing that blew me away even more was when I turned into a room and there was a real cattle ... read more

December 24th 2009

Well folks I finally got around to writing the next installment of my travel blog on Greece albeit I have been to Mykonos, got over the flu, back to London, now batching it in Amsterdam and now Berlin........So I am going to preface with something I read in a mag on the ferry over to Amsterdam (utter luxury just quietly and only $77 incl cabin!)..... 'There are no foriegn lands it is the traveller only who is foriegn' Sometimes I feel just like that but having a great time nevertheless, facing all the challenges in all the different countries. But if you have a passport and Travelex cashcard the world is your oyster! Well we finally hit Athens somewhere I needed to take the kids for ancestorial reasons but for me I would've preferred swahililand! Greece ... read more
