After a 22 hour bus ride to Laos' capital Vienitene, we decided to spend the night here and hit the bars due to the fact it was my birthday. We had heard Vientiene was a relatively quiet place and soon discovered this was true as we were turfed from a local bar (where we witnessed a very high standard pool tournament) at 1.30am! We were really tired from the long travel though so we decided to go to bed and travel to Vang Vieng the next day. We made ourselves at home in Vang Vieng and soon realised not only was this the home of tubing (an extremely fun water sport which involved rubber tubes, giant slides and the local dirty river not to mention plenty of alcohol), but it was also the home of lost ... read more

We arrived in Hoi An after a long trip from Ho Chi Minh City which involved a day's stop over in Nha Trang. This weren't too bad as Nha Trang had a lovely beach and we got to witness the beginning of an epic flood in the evening just before our second coach to Hoi An arrived. Hoi An was a relatively quiet town with lots of culture and old buildings and the market/river were two of the main attractions there. However, it boasted two beaches which we made good use by soaking up the sun in the day and then going out round the bars of a night. We also rented bicycles to ride around the town of a day time (and also of a night time in which we'd usually ride side to side ... read more

Ho Chi Minh City was one of the most interesting places we could have visited in South-East Asia. We spent a bit of time at the local market where Sophie modelled a few wigs for the locals and striking an uncanny resemblance to Mandy in the process! We also went on a day trip to the underground tunnels which were used by Vietnamese soldiers during the Vietnam War. We were amazed by what we seen and experienced, the tunnels were tiny and walking through them was very tiring. The tunnels were very well hidden making it hard for American soldiers to track them during the war allowing the Vietnamese to go undetected. After the tunnels we decided to go buy some more batteries for our now completely dead digital camera and go see some more sights ... read more

We only spent about a week in total in Cambodia and were keen to cram everything in in as little time as possible. Siam Reap was absoloutely flooded! The water in the roads was up to knee level but it made getting round a fun experience. We spent 3 days in Siam Reap where we were treated like king and queen in a guest house, the staff were so friendly (as were Cambodians in general). However after visiting the local temples Angkor Wat (amongst others), followed by a night or 2 of drinking, partying and watching the Wolves match we decided to head to the capital of Phnom Penh to see the Killing Fields where many educated people like teachers and doctors lost their lives under the communist regime of the 70's. Phnom Penh was a ... read more

In Ko Tao, After bumping into a mate we had made previously at the full moon party who advised us Koh Pangnan would be a 'ghost town' due to the fact the full moon party had just been we seen even more reason to go! Thankfully he was right, the island was filled with locals n' very quiet for a change. First things first we jumped off the boat, found a cheap beach side bungalow (6 quid a night) n threw our stuff in n headed straight down to the local English Pub for a roast dinner... (Nothin' on Mandy's according to Sophie). We seen a moped rental shop across the road for only 3 pound a day so we snapped 1 up for a couple of days. We had a couple of relaxed drives that ... read more

We only spent 2 days in Koh Tao but the weather was lovely. We stayed in a beach side bungalow (again) much to Sophie's disappointment. Upon arrival in the bungalow we were welcomed by a giant gecko living in the bathroom. It was like the size of Sophie's forearm so naturally we shit ourselves at first n' managed to chase him out by throwing a coin at him. The bastard came back the next mornin' so Sophie named him Francis. Francis then decided to leave Sophie close to tears during a horrifying late night assault on our rooftop! He was scurrying all over the gaf n' Sophie was an emotional wreck. Anyway enough about giant gecko's... Scuba Diving was amazing it's just a shame we didn't have underwater cameras! After 2 days of beach side fun ... read more

Got to ko samui and spent a couple of days in a guest house by chaweng beach. After this we decided to head over to the quieter lamai beach to stay in a beach bungalow, we made two thai friends called lok and sallee who worked in a near-by bar where we got our asses whooped at pool (except for doubles where we had some epic games!) they looked about 18 but turned out to be 40! Thai lifestyle for ya. we then moved to the best resort (which is actually the name of the place) in order to have a couple of days by the pool. dirt cheap! After a couple of relaxed days by the pool we bought our tickets for the boat to ko pan gnang for the Full Moon Party... At Koh ... read more

After Phuket we jumped the boat to Phi Phi Islands (the island which boasts the beach where the film 'The Beach' was filmed. Of a night we'd head down to our local beach (which was a 5 minute walk from our bamboo bungalow) to chill by the ocean outside a beach side cocktail bar, very peaceful (except for the bar a few bars down playin drum n bass n dubstep music all night hahaha. We had one absoloutely boss day in Phi Phi where we booked a boat to go to the famouse 'Beach' and also went to Monkey Island n went snorkelling with little fishies (Sophie conquering her phobia of them on the way) On the boat buckets of whiskey were passed round n in the end we decided to have a chug contest with ... read more

Been in Phuket for a few days now in search of beaches but it's been raining near enough non stop! Hopefully it'll clear up in time for the full moon party (12th sept) aqnd other moon parties, will keep u posted off to watch the liverpool bolton match somewhere tonight... After a good few days of rain the sun decided to come out thankfully for me as Sophie was happy for once and stopped her constant moaning!!!!!!!! Due to this we decided to go to the local beach (Patong beach). After a couple of days in Patong we decided to head further south to stay by Karon beach. Karon beach was a lot more relaxed due to the fact Patong was like Magaluf meets Amsterdam - full of prostitutes and young piss heads... In Karon we ... read more

In Chiang Mai we went bamboo rafting, elephant riding, trekked through the mountains of Chiang Mai's rainforest and got to meet some locals and indulged in some local customs like smokin' thai marijuana (that's weed folks) We also got to get up close with tigers and monkeys in tiger kingodm and monkey kingdom. I'll be honest I did shit myself a little (Michael speaking) Apart from this we mainly sat by the pool and enjoyed the odd Chang tower.... read more
