Progressive Dinner Just saw your comments on the blog, glad you liked it. I'll have to check with Beth on the Buddism, Shinto and Zen differences. She explained some to us but with everything going on there it didn't stick with me.
So starting at our house with sushi sounds good. What about some kind of graduation party, do we still want to attempt that?
pictures are up! All my pics are up and we still need to add a bunch of Greg's but now you can have the visuals too! Glad your enjoying it. We laughed and cried, it was a great trip!
geocaching Almost forgot to ask - have you done any Geocaching? If you check the website, Tokyo lights up like a Christmas tree. There is even one at Tokyo tower. Check it out before you leave Japan! You have to get at least one!
geocache Wow, I guess we totally forgot about geocache. We talked about it before we left and Greg was going to plant one but I guess we got distracted. He wanted to leave a travelbug but forgot to take it with. That's not the worst thing we left behind, the rail passes got left here so hopefully I can get a refund!
onsen Tell Greg he is at the wrong onsen. There are plenty of co-ed onsens around! :)
P.S. Hi Robin! Hope you are enjoying Cyprus! Can you ski there? :)
onsen You would think he would like that! I wanted to go to the Hot Springs one somewhere near Kyoto but just too much to do. Maybe we will get to go back if Beth decides to work there!
graveyard Yep, sure is. There were lots of really cool graveyards. On the new year the families come out a lot to visit the graves and to clean them so we saw a lot of that. The crows hang out in the graveyards so they were pretty creepy but cool, mostly in very beautiful temples. I'm sure the graves were those of very prominant people because most everyone is cremated due to a lack of space.
just to let you know Greg, only the smartest rocks were chosen for your yard so they will have an abundance of knowledge to share with you.... not to mention their aesthetic characteristics!
Zen Rock Gardens I took tons of landscape pics for you. We have a very Zen yard. Can't wait to show you the pics, lots of new inspiration. You did such a great job on the yard, the Japanese would be very proud of your artistic abilities.
I am so enjoying your re-cap of your days there. The pictures are fantastic. Thank you so much for sharing. I was actually intrigued by the discription of the "cabbage" pancakes until I saw the picture of them.... after all, it is all in the presentation... right? Were they good? The pictures from the ferris wheel are great. I just keep smilin' while I think of you guys there with Elizabeth!
blogs I'm glad you liked the blogs. I can't sleep, it's 4:18 Sat morning. I had the worst headache so I took some tylenol that had caffeine in it. Oops, that along with jet lag is going to really screw me up. Will have plenty of time to work on my blog now, I need to finish up!
blogs I'm glad you like them!! Does this response go to your email? Curious to know how you know I answered the message. This is a pretty cool site. A bit of a learning curve at first but I'm getting the hang of it. It was so hard to leave, we had a great time!
Kyoto - Ga atta ni okonawa :) Have Beth translate. Sounds like an amazing trip, guys! I'm reliving our trip as I read about your adventures. We have about a 6 hour videotape of our trip, but a blog would have been much easier!
Glad you enjoyed some good yakitori, sans chicken fat. Enjoy the rest of your trip - Tanoshī o motte iru!
Boots are all the rage here in Cyprus as well. All kinds and the higher the heels the better! We smile at the ladies wearing winter boots and coats on the 70F day, fashion comes first!
We had a hotel experience that was very different than yours, we went to have a spa experience on our anniversary, the lady told me that their hotel would be just perfect, but she fail to tell me that most everything in the hotel is closed for the winter.
In the morning I went down to jump in the pool, it was freezing so I ran to get a towel, but I couldn't
find a staff member anywhere even at the front desk. There was a bell there so I rang it and a lady came out. She said if I needed more than the one towel that was in our room that it would cost 3 euro ($5). I told her she could keep the towel and we went for a cold swim in the sea.
Really it was beautiful and God provided some wonderful warm weather! Can't wait to have you guys come to Cyprus.
towel shortage Yes, we were only given a set# of towels in our room and if you wanted more they were for sale at the front desk. Fortunately they did give us a few extra and our bath was awesome in Kyoto. I haven't tried it in Tokyo but this place is not that swanky. We are going back to the same hotel in Kyoto in two nights, we liked it so much.
That's funny about the pool, weve had a few communication breaks down that are funny.

Time to have the yearly progressive dinner. You guys can start off with sushi apps and tea and then progress to ????.
