Seems fitting that my peak isolation and aloneness geographically occurs in the very place that spawned the reason for my eventual presence there to being with. Cheers!... read more

So what has changed here since last time? Quite frankly, nothing. The audience remains the same. I've gotten a year older. Supposedly, some would have us believe, a year wiser. I am not a year wiser. I'm a year more jadded, more distraught and more misguided than before. Actually, I crave for how things were more than a year ago. I crave for how they were, two, three or four years ago. Instead, I sit in my one bedroom apartment day after day, looking out the window, wondering if they will. I wonder what happened to friends past, and why I am so alone. I wonder how I have fallen so god damn far that I don't see how I'm going to be able to get up again. I guess I have to pretend not to ... read more

Disclaimer: This blog is not about traveling so if that is what you expect, don't read it. It is instead somewhere where I write when I feel like writing about something that no one wants to hear or read anyway. I write as though it were to an audience because nobody is consistently the best listener. It was around this time 3 years ago that I would stumble into a misfortune and make a decision that has shaped where I am at this very moment. I think there are few such moments in life where one single decision can be pinpointed as being so crucial that it has blatantly put a person on their present path. Not a day has gone past where that misadventure that started 3 years ago hasn't crossed my mind. Not a ... read more

It's been just over a year since what would be the worst thing ever walked into my life. Yes, I have one regret from my whole experience. Meeting a person so horrible and downright evil, that it essentially shattered the way I think about a quantity of things now. The previous entry was written under incredibly false pretenses and knowledge. The ulimate reality, unfortunately, is the truth. With this, I am done.... read more

July 20th 2006

“Live for the Moment.” That’s what a friend of mine always told me. I sit here now, nearly a week after having left Germany and Europe. Ten and a half months. Ten and a half months that I will never forget. Ten and a half months where I learnt so much, experienced so many new things and met so many people from most corners of the world. Ten and a half months where I lived on the edge of reality and lived for the moment. Ten and a half months that ended in a way that I still can’t really believe and fully comprehend. I always had in my mind that once getting back to Calgary, reality would slap me back in the face. It has as well, but really, my slap came almost 2 months ... read more

Two Month Summary

Well, I have neglected to write in here for about 2 months, so I guess I will do what I can now. Really, this should be called The End, because in a week I am back in Alberta. I will, or at least am planning on writing one more after this though. I am in fact headed back a month earlier than originally planned. There are several reasons for this, but I'm going to keep this particular entry strictly about travelling. Furthermore, because of the type of travelling it was, and the fact that I have two months to cover, means that it will be more of a lame summary. Here we are: So after a quick stop in Stuttgart on the way back from Egypt and Greece, it was time to meet up with Kyle, ... read more

Getting a taste of Greece

A continuation of my Egypt and Greece trip. Obviously, this would be the Greece part, and in my opinion, considerably less exciting. So stepping off the plane in Athens provided a rather welcome change. It was weird really, as it wasnt just so much as if we were back in civilization (per say,) but it really almost felt like home- as though as if we were back in our own familiar world again. However, this was only partly true and mostly due to a quick but refreshing first glance. The Greeks definitely have their own marked identity and culture as well. It soon became "all Greek to me." Thus, due toe it's somewhat familiar feel, it also isn't exactly as story worthy, so I will try to avoid the day to day, hour by hour rundown ... read more

Ahh so here I am again ready to type up another entry. I sometimes wonder if anyone actually reads these, and this time will be no different. In fact this one is about Egypt and thus, should possibly arouse at least some curiousity and interest. However, I along with Jocelyn, spent 10 days there and everyone of them had at least something going on, so its basically going to be a day to day run down. Meaning, it may get a little long... I flew out of Basel on about 2 hrs sleep as my flight was early in the morning. As I was on the plane, I had a strange feeling the whole time on the plane. Was I actually going to Egypt? I had always regarded Egypt as a somewhat magical and untouchable place. ... read more

April 4th 2006

So I have finally decided to do one of these travel blog things. I don't really know if it is or will be worth reading, but I'm writing it anyway. I'm only really now starting travelling, although you could say that I have been for seven months already. Well, perhaps not travelling, but at least foregoing some sort of an adventure. At the moment, however, I am no longer in Stuttgart and have actually not been there for almost two weeks now. Instead I am sitting at a computer at my uncles in Switzerland, writing and looking out the window at snow covered peaks such as Mt Pilatus and the Eiger, which from here, climbint it looks like no problem... It might be silly that I know this, but I spent exactly 205 days in Stuttgart. ... read more
