Since the sleeping accommodation was a little table to rest my head on, the 27th ran into the 28th. I didn’t sleep much during the night, and when I did, it was like passing out. No dreams. No recollection of falling asleep. No idea how long I’d been asleep, or even whether I’d been asleep for sure when I woke up. When I sat on the soft seat in first class on the train from Guangzhou to Kowloon, I was amazed at what a relief it was. But I’m getting ahead of myself.
