...after a couple of exciting months!! And the countdown has already started: when to be back on track. Uuh, there is definetly not much sun here. People all go their ways - time to get together and share the remnants of this summer's lasting warmth. E.g. some friends organise their next event: Sunday 2nd, 18-6h, in the rooms of the new Tresor. Nothing but minimal elektro. ... read more

Since last week I'm in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan (also biggest town, ca. 0.8 M inhabitants). It has changed quite a bit since my first visit in 2001. Here I go to a language school, which has been very good so far. Yesterday the opening ceremony of the 'festival of the horse' took place in the ballet theatre. Tomorrow this festival starts in Barskoon, a town on the southern shore of lake Issyk-Kul, which is a six hours ride from here (by bus). I'll go there over the weekend and already look forward to maybe see Buzkachi again. Yesterday I already met a French horse-ball team, which will play there with some local people.... read more

After two weeks rollercoastering on dirt tracks and old soviet asphalt in search and conquest of THE pass (one we reached on our Tour Dresden-Ulanbaatar 2001), I arrived in Naryn yesterday night. I'm a bit torn - just on time after the pass temperatures have dropped significantly.... read more

...still in OshThe baggage carrier had lasted a long time after the first break on the way to Ishkashim, and the splinting repair there. The bike took me nearly all the way through the Pamir. After Kyzyl-Art, however, I recongnised another break. So I just made it downhill to Sary-Tash - very slowly and hoping that it would not burst totally. After deep thoughts, I postponed the idea of a side trip to Kashgar. Looking forward to find good metal work in near Osh instead of ready but thinny alu-carriers in China, I went there "straight" - the coal truck I hitchhiked on needed some smiths, too. Two days later in Osh the decision proved to be not half bad: in the bazaar there were a couple of smiths, seeming to know their business. They made ... read more

On the last day of my Tajik visa I reached the Kyzyl-Art Pass (4282m), which nowadays marks the border between Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan. Pretty strong headwind made me push sometimes. Having arrived at the border the customs officers on the tajik side were very supportive and fed me with a large bowl of soup, bread, ayran and chai. So, I reached the top in the early afternoon and could enjoy the good views. ... read more
